We anti:woe, with deep sorrow. the death of our

who has, fur over a - quarter of a oenthry past, oceu

having retired from the owe of professional life,
had Jest begun to enjoy the fruits of a useful and
successful career when the dread messenger ap
peared to summen hint away from earthly trials, to
the bar of final judgment. For several months
past ha has been a great sufferer from a sehirrous
affection, which gradually spread throughout hie
system, resisted all the efforts of medical 80i01300
and the final event, so sad to the community, yet
so grateful to the patient, occurred at hie late resi—

The fact was announced in court this noon, where
upon a meeting of the bar was held, the venerable
Judge Hornblower presiding, and arrangements

From present Indio/atom', the usual patriotic, demon

A GREAT LIORT von inn Connertr.—At thi
season of the year, when a large number of our oiti

the best, cheapest and most convenient portable tight

endless variety of patterns and designs, we find are
being very generally adoe'ed, even here in the city,
where persons have (stream to use a portable light;
and for the eojoitry they have become decidedly the
most popular fixture for lighting either private or public
edifices ever preßented to the public. ahe consequence
is, their sales-rooms to-day present an sir of business,
equalled by few other manufacturing establishments in
this city. Per our own part, we have no hesitation in
saying that the Kerosene oil lamps and fixtures. made
and sold by Megan. Witten & Co. furnish by far the most
