COALS.—healed proposal; will be received at the
office of the PHILADELPHIA GAS WORKS, No. 20
South SEVENTH Street, until noon of Pit IDAY, June
S. 180 D, for any part or the whole of fifty thousand tons
of Bituminous Coals, suitable for the manufacture of
Gas, to be delivered at the Gait Works, on the Schuylkill
river, in such monthly quantities as may be speeified in
the contract. The first deliveries to commence in the
month of July next.
The Cordsmust be fresh, clean, and dry, and of a quali
ty to be approved by the engineer. The proposals must
state the particular variety of Coal it is intended to fur-
nish. and if of a kind not before used at these work',
samples of not leis than 'fifty tons for trial will be re•
quired preview; to

pressly stated, and, if It no preferred to deliver by

to purchase wherever th ey may deem best, and charge
to the contractors any loss or damage consequent on
such failure:
The payments will be made in two equal instalments,
at four and six menthe after the specified miriade of de
livery, the 15th of each month to be taken as the leve
rage of the monthly deliveries ‘• or, at the option of the
trustees, paymehts will be maths in cash, with interest
deducted.
Should the contractors prefer to deliver the Coal ear
lier than required, it may he reoeived, if convenient to
store, but payment* will be made to date from the time
spedi lied:
