OHIO WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF THN PROPRIETOR FOR
THE t3EMION OP 1859.
THE OHIO WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS are situa
ted in Delaware county, 18 miles north from Columbus,
(the capital of Ohio,) on the &lotto river, 10 miles from
Delaware, 10 miles from the White Sulphur libation, on
the epringtleld, Mt Vernon. and Pittsburg Railroad,
and 10 miles from Pleasant Valley or Springs station,
on the Columbus, P;qua, and Indiana Railroad. These
Springs will be open for the reception of visitors
ON THE FIRST DAP OF JUNR.
The improveruenta of 180 have been large, enabling
the proprietor to accommodate from five to six hundred
gueste. Among these iroprovementa may be mentioned
a largo ant elegant hotel, new cottage ro vs, additional
buildings for amusements and renreation, extensive
bath-hones, a steam laundry, do., Ica.
Upon the estate there are five Springs, all within the
lawn, four of which, the White Sulphur, the °hely
beate, the Magnesiatt, and the Ballo, Chalybeate, are
dealded'y medicinal, whilst the fifth is remarkable for
the purity of its water.
THE WHITE SULPHUR
le a beautiful Artesian fountain, situated near the
rocky bank of the Scioto river. At the depth of 160
feet below the level of the Scioto, flows the remarkable
stream of sulphur which supplies this Spring. Ibis
stream was 'discovered some 30 yearn ago, by a gentle
man who was boring for salt. The water when reached,
at once arose to the surface, and hat ever since con
tinued to flow, during all seasons, without change or
abatement, either in quality or volume.
MEDICINAL PROPERTIES.
- • •
For yearn these Springs have been highly esteemed
for their medminal properties. During the peat mason
their reputation in this reapeot hes been singularly con
firmed. They were administered by a physiolan, Judi.
Mouldy as to quantity, time of drinking, continuance,
&0.. and under this systematic plan the cares were
numerous end gratifying.
TEE WHITE SULPHUR WATER
is peouliarly serviceable in those disorders of the Liver
and Stomeolt which so often afflict gentlemen who have
been too °lamely confined to buttress, and persons of
sedentary habits.

As a delightful resort during the summer months, the
Ohio White Sulphur Springs have no rival In the West,
and but foci in the United Kates. The location is pe
culiarly healthy ; the Scioto here is a rapid. rocky
stream; the'" 01111 Limestone l 7 a formation hundreds
of feet in thickness, through which the river cuts its
way, in everywhere, either at or near the surface; the
grounds of the estate are beantifully undulated, and
Interspersed with numerous ravines which carry off all
the impel daces water, thus rendering the soil dry and
the atmosphere free from that humidity no prejudicial
to health; those circumstances, taken in connection
with the altitude of the place, abut 1,000 feet apore
the level of the ocean, makes the locality as free from
malarieue influences as a mountain region.
Ihe spring property consists of 820 acres of land,
one hundred of which is covered by one of the most
beautiful groves in Ohio. This woodland is hardsontely
laid oft into walks and drives, one of the latter being
two miles In extent.
BATHS.
Bathing here, by the plan adopted, is brought into
fair competition with that at naturally Warm and Hot
Springs The water is heated in the bath tub by Meant
pipes; the heat not being raised high enough to prealpi.

of the bather without the loos of ite saline ingredients.
.
THLE6RAPH ONBION
A Telegraph Office, communlcatiog with all parts of
the country, has been eet■bliahed at the Springs. To
be thus in connection with distant points, will be a
great convenience to gentlemen who can hear from and
direct their business strain daily.
