test this faotj; for the first time in the annals of
justice the aid of the photographic art was sought.
By the exhibition' or specimens of handwriting,
thus enlarged and multiplied, the jury are enabled
to have in their possession during the whole time of

“Shejhas all tho * squeamishness of an old

nothing can save her from the appellation of

humanity, are tho never*failing characteristics
of that terrible creature —an Old Maid.

Great Reduction tn Prices—White Hall Cloth-
ING —ln older to close our heavy stock of FALL and
WINTER CLOTHING, we have greatly reduced in pric*
every artiole in our house. Now is the time to econo
mize, as fashionß really do not materially change in one
year. It will pay well, oven if you lay by your pur
chases until next fall. At the close of the season, our
aim is to close our stock of that season ; consequently,
we sell lower at the end than at the commencement.
In our redaction of prices we have marked the lowest
selling price we can possibly take on each garment.

I regard Dr. Hoofiand’s Balsamic Cordial as ufae
quailed ier coughs and colds. A short time since I was
attacked with a vory severe cold, accompanied with a
most violent and distressing cough, whioh rooked my
system terribly, and caused great debilitation. I used
various remedies without obtaining relief, until finally
I was recommended to try a bottle of the Cordial. Its
effects were indeed wonderful; a few doses produced the
greatest relief, and before I had taken the contents of
the bottle I was entirely oared.

TESTIMONIAL.
Boston, July 19, 1857.
(J 7 Messrs. J. Burnett & Oo.: I cannot refuse to
state the salutary effect in my own aggravated case of
your excellent Hair Oil—(Cocoafne.)
For many monthß my hair had been falling off, until
I was fearful of losing it entirely. The akin upon my
head became gradually more and more inQamed, so that
I could not touoh it without pain. This irritated con
dition I attributed to the use of various advertised hair
washes, which I have since been told contain camphehe
spirit.
By the advice of my physiolan, to whom you had
shown your process of purifying the Oil, I commenced
its use the last week in June. The first application al
layed the itching and irritation j in three or four days
the redness and tenderness disappeared—the hair ceased -
to fall, and I have now a thick growth of new hair.
I trust that others, similarly afflicted, will be in
duced to try the same remedy.
Yours, very truly,
SUSAN It. FOPE.
(J 7 A single application renders the hair (no matter
how stiff and dry) soft and glossy for several days. It
Is conceded by all who have used it to be the best and
cheapest Hair Dressing in the World.
