i, QUEERS. PORTABLE. FORGE.—
Doubtless ibauiy of our City, readers, in passing
Ml the gangs ot Workman-employed inlaying down
of the passenger railroad tracks in our

with bellows and everything audio efficient
servtoe. - These, forges} built upon the plan secured oy

long-established, and deservedly popular Stove, Range,
and -furnace-establishment of-WABNIOK, CHAD

Streets, who have the sole right fot the sale of Queen’S
Portable Foige luPennsylvanla. ,
There, are, we believe,, five sizes of this forge, rang
ing in price fioin, twenty-two .to forty-four dollars—a
sum so small, when contrasted with Its merits, as ttt se
cure its general Introduction | for any onewho.will for
a moment consider the advantages of this'forge, which
may be removed from place to plaoe; sc as always to be
on the spot where workers in iron or other metals are
to perform service, whether in original oonstruotlon or
repairs, will at once concede its great effioieooy,' and ar
range for its possession and-use. -The adaptability.of
this forge to repairs to railroads and mining machinery
especially commends it to railroad oompanlea and opera

sure in calling to it the attention of road masters, su
perintendents of mines, and others.—[From the united

NING COOK bTOVE,—I would respeotftt ly call
SBWjt the attention of the public to one or the greatest
improvements ever introduced in Oookiog Stoves
and Ranges—the burning of,the gas arising from the
coal, by whioh means is saved 00 per cent, in fuel and
also more intense heat thrown to the bottom of tho
oven. We effect the burning of the gases by means of a
hollow centre-piece, perforated on the underside, which
admits the air ip a h‘*ted state to mingle with the
gases, thus aiding its combustion, and causing a flame
to pass around the oven equal to a wood fire. This im
provement also preserves the centre piece from rinking
down on the Are, thereby saving the expense of repairs

PROFESSOR WOOD’S
XX.«IX:R RESTORATIVE
Says the Bt. Louis (Me.) Democrat: Below, we pub
lish a letter to Dr Wood of this city, from a gentleman
In'Maine, which upoakS glowingly of the superior
merits of his hair tonic. Bach evidence must hare its
effect, when coming from a reliable source. If certifi
cates are guarantees of truth, the Dr. needs no enco
miums, nor useless puffery from the press: -
Bath, Maine, /an. 20,1850.
Professor 0. J. Wood & Co.—Gen firmest: Having my
attention called a few months sinoe to the highly bene
fical effects of your Hair Restorative, I was induced to
make application of it upon my own hair, which had be
come quite gray, probably one-third white; my whis
kers were of same character. Some three months since
I procured a bottle of your hair restorative, and used
it. I soon found it waß proving what I had wished. I
used it about twice a week. I have since procured
another bottle, of which I have used some. I can now
certi y to the world that the gray or white hair has to
tally disappeared, both on my head and face and my
hair has resumed its natural color, and I belieye more
soft and glossy than it has been before for twenty-fire
years.- lam now sixty years old; my geod wife at the
age of fifty-tiro, has used it with same effect.
The abore notice I deem due to you tor your valuable
discovery. lam assured that whoever wlu rightly use,
as. per directions, .will not have occasion-to contra
dict my statements. I sms citizen of this city, and a
resident here for the last fifteen roars, and am knows
to nearly every ond here'and adjoining towns. Any use
you may make of the above, with my name attached, is
at your service, as I wish to preserve the beauties of
nature in others as well as myself. lam truly, yours,
~ A. 0. RAYMOND.

WSOD’B HAla* EEsTOluilvi:
Professor Wood— Dear Sir; Having had the misfor
tune to lose the heat portion of my hair, from the effects
of the yellow fever, in New Orleans, in 1861, I was in
duced to make a trial of your preparation, and found it
to answer as the very thing needed. Myjtair is now
thick and glossy, and no words can express my obliga
tions'to you in giving to the afflicted such a treasure.'
PINI.EY JOHNSON.
The undersigned, Rev. J.K. Bragg, is a minister In
regular standing, and Pastor of the Orthodox Church at
Brookfield, Jlasa He is a gentleman of great influence
and universally beloved. WM DYER. .
Brookfield, Jan. 12,1858.
Professor Wood—Dear Sir: Having made a trial of
your Hair Restorative, it gives me pleasure to say, that
its effect has been excellent in removing Inflammation,
dandruff and a constant tendency to itching with which
1 have been troubled from my childhood; and has also
restored my. hair, which was becoming gray, to its origi
nal color; I have used no othbr article with anything
like the same pleasure or profit.
Yourstruly, ' J. S. BRACK}.
The Restorative is put up in bottles of three aUes, vis:
large, medium, and small. The small holds ball a pint,
and retails for one dollar per bottle; the mediant holds
at least twenty per cent ’more in proportion than the
small, retails for two dollars'perbottle; the large holds
a quart, forty per cent, more in proportion, and retails
for three dollars a bottle.

It Is well known that the mediolnal effects of Protox

In the Peruvian Syrup, this desirable point is at

this solution may replace all the proto carbonates, td
