this month, (October,) but as Epidemics still prevail
to some extent in a few or our Southern Ports, as well
as Iq tbe West Indies, requiring caution in the admit
ting of vessels up to tho Port or Philadelphia, notwith
standing tho low temrerature of the atmosphere, with
the prospect of it so continuing—NoTloE 18 HERE
BY GIVEN, That all vefaels arriving from the Porte
of Charleston, Bavaunah, New Orleans, Galveston, or
the West Indies, are required to be visited by the Port
Physician previously to thoir being hauled to any wharf
of tho Oity or Windmill Island, and undergo such an
examination as Is provided by tbe 18th section or the
G eneral Health Laws of 1818 for the security of the City
and Port from the introduction of aoy pestilential or
oontsgious disease
Owners and consignees of vessels expected to arrive
from any of tbe aforesaid ports aro requested to give
Information to Captains of tbe same,through the Pilots
or othorwfse, as may be most effectual in giving the
abovo notice to those interested.
The above restriction on coastwise versels will be re
moved at tho very earliest day that circumstances will
admit.
Cotton, and all other articles now in Quarantine, in
