River Schuylkill, on the line of Chestnut street, in the
City of Philadelphia, will be received by the Chief En
gineer and Surveyor, at the DEPARTMENT OF SUR
VEYS, City Building, RUTH Street, below Walnut,
until the second day of January, 11413. Said Bridge to
be of the following dimensions, without any pier, or
with not more than one pier in the water-way; the
materials of construction throughout to be indestructl

corresponding mark thereon, so that the name of the

SeoStott 3. That all each plans and estnnates shall,
when received, become the property ofthe City of Phila
delphia, and shall be presented within two months after
the passage of this ordinance, when It shall be the duty
of the Chief Engineer and Surveyor, by and with the
advice of the Committee on Surveys and Regulations,
to invite a commission consisting of three civil engi
neers, who, in conjunction with the Chief Engineer and
Surveyor of the City, shall examine and decide upon the
relative merits and applicability of the plata presented,
to the Bridge lite proposed, and report to Councils the
number of plans received, the names of the designers,
and the character and estimated coat of Use three plans
by them preferred.
Scormg 4. It shall be the duty of the Chief Comnils•
Mauer of Highways, upon a certificate presented and
signed by the Chief Engineer and Surveyor, to tame
warrants in payment of the east of the aforesaid adver
tisements, and also in favor of those persons who may
have preeentod the three plans preferred by said com
mission i to the first in point of merit, the sum 0(1400;
to the second, $250, and to the third $lOOl said warrants
to be charged to Item No. 18 of appropriation made to
the Department of Highways, &a , for the year 1657,
approved March 18, 1657.1
