The Franklin Railroad, from Obambersburg-through
Gteencastle to the Maryl And-line, has heen sold to
Messrs. J4s.- Wdrrell, A. J. Jones, and J. J. Dull, of
Harrisburg. These gentlemen have inado arrange
ments, for the purchase andcompletlon of the road from
tbe Maryland line to Hagerstown.

old stock, $7 for fresh ground from new Wheat, and
$7.25 for good Penn’a brandfe, but the demand Is limited
at these figures, and confined to the retail trade, em

’ The-weather fora week has been Very rainy, which to
favorable as regards the health of the people and the
crops. - Sugars continue to arrive from’the Interior at
the rate of 2500 bags per day. The shipment of Sugar
since the Ist of November last la 62,626 tons, and for
corresponding period of 1856: 60,200 tons. The new crop
of Cotton to large and of good quality; already 1000 bales
have reached market, and sold for' 7||600®7||760
erroba. Hides are sosroe, and no shipments except what
to going to Portugal/and seU at lie. & B». freights
dull.- Exchange active at 28# for £76,000 and 800,000
francs. > Discounts in' banksand market places 10 per

Guernsey, Aug 4.—ln out last number we reported that'
a waterlogged vessel; laden with ’flour, had been fallen
In with by the schooner Jubilee on the. Tuesday pre
vious at about 35 miles to the northwest of this Island
and tbe Queen of the Isles steamer and another vessol
had gone in search of her, hut without success. We
now learn that the derelict ycssel turns out to be the
french schooner Marie Francois®, from Havre for Car
dlff, Which On tho night of the 27th ult. was run down,
when nine iriles off Plymouth, by the brig Stranger, or
Jersey, as reported In our last number, the crew being
aved on board th©\alter vessel.,
Brig Marshfield; Brown, from New York for Santa
Crus, was wrecked near Bishop’s Shoal, Turk’s Island,
on the 28th ult. The crew were saved, with part of the
