The twenty four gentlemen who by appointment-os
the late Commissioners aflifted hi the management of the
Hotel Lottery are requested to undertake this arduous talk
a second time on behalf, of the public ; a fufficient num
ber of these having kindly accepted, it is hoped that the
friends to a National Univerflty and the other federal ob
jects may continue to favor the design.

Continent as well as from Europe, where the tickets

persons entitled to> Lands, in purfusnce df resolves of
Congress.
Every certificate of the acknowledgment of a deed or
power of attorney, either before a notary public or other
magistrate, mult, in addition to what is usual, set forth
that the person making the acknowledgment is known to
the notary or other magistrate ; for which purpose words
of the following import must be inserted in the certificate.
" And I do moreover certify that the said A B making
this acknowledgment has been for personally
known to me."
If the notary or other magistrate has reafbn to believe
that he is ths person he represents himfelf to be, he wil
also certify it.
Andifthe proof be made by a witne&jrwitnelTeSjhe or
they must swear to some general ftateof their knowledge of
him, which matter must be set forth in the certificate ; and
the notary public, or other magistrate, before whom the
