in any contract, the contractor fha.ll forfeit one dollar ;
and if the delay continue until the departure of any
depending mail whereby the mails destined for such
depending mail lose a trip, an additional forfeiture ol
five dollars {hall be incurred.
Note 4. Newspapers as well as letters are to be sent
in the mails; and if any person making proposals de
fi res to carry newspapers other than those conveyed in
the mail for his own emolument, he must state in his
proposals for what sum he will carry it with that emo
lument and for what sum without that emolument.
Aote 5. The contrails for the Mails Number 1,
19, jo, and aj, are to be in operation o» the firft day
of o<slober next, and all the others on the firft day of
November next. —The contardls for the fourteen firft
numbered roads are to continue in force.until the ift
of Otflober r 797 ; the contrails for the road No. 11,
is to continue until the ift of Oflober 1796, and the
contrails for the roads No. 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and
20, are to continue until the ift of April 1798.
Note 6. Should any person making proposals desire
an alteration of the times of arrival and departure
above fpccified, he must state in his proposals such al
terations and the difference they will make in the
terms of his contrail.
Note 7. Proposals for the Road No. 1, will be re
ceived by the Post Master at Pcnobfcot; for the Road
No. 11, by Mr. Walter Beal, at Beardltown ; for the
Roads No. 19 and 10, by Dr. S. Green, Post Master
at Columbia: and for the Road No. n, by General
James Jackson, at Savannah; proposals for the other
Road# must be sent to this office. No proposals for
the Roads No. I, 19, 10 and tl, will be received after
the 10th of September next.

tachment was issued out of the inferior court of Common
Pleas in and for the county of Cumberland, in the ;Ute of
New Jersey, returnable on the twenty-fifth day of Febru
ary last, against the goods and chattels, rights and credits,
lauds and tenements of George Hutz (not being a rsfidcnt
at that time within the state of New Jersey) at the furt of
Jonathan Bil linger, indorsee of Job Butcher, whirh was
levied by the sheriff of the county of Cumberland " on
a certain (loop or shallop called the Fly of Philadelphia",
with its appurtenances, as by the return of Ihe said sheriff
will more particularly appear—and notice is aifo hereby
further given, agreeably to the direction of ar. a<st of the
Legislature of the state of New-Jersey in luch cafe made,
and provided, that unless the said George Hutz (hall ap
pear and give fpecialbail to aniwer the suit so as aSoi;-
said instituted against him by th said Jonathan Rallinger,
within such time as is prelcribed by law, " that then and in
that cafe judgment (hail be entered" against the said George
Hutz " by default, and that the said sloop or shallop so as
aforefaid seized on the said attachment" will be fold for
the fatisfaction of all " creditors who shall appear to be
justly entitled to any demand thereon, and (hall apply for
