Note I. The Post Master General may alter the
times of arrival and departure at any time during the
continuance of" the contrails, he previously stipulating
an adequate compensation tor any extra expenee that
may be occasioned thereby.
Note. 2. Half an hour ihall be allowed for opening
and doling the mail at all offices where no partirular
time is fpecified.
Note 3. For every hour'» delay (unavoidable acci
dent* excepted) in arriving after the times prelcribcd
in any contrail, the conrrailor (hall forfeit one dollar ;
and ii the delay continue until the departure of any
depending mail whereby the mails destined for fat-h
depending mail lose a trip, an additional forfeiture of
five dollars lhall be ineurred.
Note 4 Newspapers as weH is letters arc to be sent
in the mails; and if any person making proposals de
sires to carry newspapers otiier than those conveyed in
the mail for his own emolument, he mufl state in his
proposals for what l'um he will carry it with that emo
lument and for what sum without that emolument.
Aote 5. The contrails f»r the Mails Number 1,
19, 20, and ii, are to be in operation o» the firft day
of October next, and all the others on the firft day of
November next. —The conturils for the fourteen firft
numbered roads are to continue in force until the ill
of Oilober 1797 ; tlte contrails for the road No. jr,
is to continue until the ift of Oilober 1796, and the
contrails for the roads No. 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and
ao, are to continue until the ift of April 1798.
Note 6. Should any person making proposals desire
an alteration of the times bf arrival and departure
above fpecified, he mull state in his proposals fueh al
terations and the difference they will make in the
terms of his contrail.
Note 7. Proposals for the Road No. 1, will be re
ceived by the Port Matter at Pimobfcot; for the Road
No. 11, by Mr. Walter Bea!, at Beardliown ; for the
Roads No. 19 and 20, by Dr. S. Green, Post Mafler
at Columbia: and for the Road No. 11, by General
James Jackson, at Savannah ; proposals for the other
Roads must be sent to this office. No proposals for
the Roads No. 1, 19, io and 11, will be received after
the »oth of September next.
Note 8. Co»tra*stor» may receive their pay quar
