THAT a General Stamp-Office is now
eftablkhed at the feat of government, in trie
city of Wafhingtoh, from whence there Will

Revenue, under whose management the

quantities of paper, paeohmewt and vellum,

parchment or paper chargeable with duty,
will cease and determine from and after fix
months from the date hereof, to wi», on the

That, tf any prions (hall, after the last
day of tebrn*ry iSot, have in their custody
or poflVflion, any vellum, parchment or pa
per, marked or (lamped by the fuperviforsof
the Revenue, upon which any matter or
thing, charged with duty, fliall not h«ve
been written or printed, they may at any
time within the space of sixty days after
the said last day of February 1801, bring
or fend such vellum* parchment and paper,
unto some office of infpedlion, and in lie«i
thereof, receive a like quantity or value of
vellum, parchment and paper, duly (lamped
in pursuance of the adt herein before recited.
And in cafe any person (hall neglett or re
fu(e, within the time aforefaid, to bring or
cause to be brought unto some officer of in
fpe&ion, any fnch vellum, parchment or pa
per, it is hereby declared, that the fame will
thereafter be of no other effedl or u(e, than
if it had never been marked or (lamped, and
tha< all matters and things, which may af
ter that time be written er printed upon ajiy
vellul, parchment or paper, authorized to be
exchanged in manner aforefaid, will be of no
other effefl, than if they had been written
or printed on paper, parchment or vellum,
not marked or (lamped.
And for the convenience of those persons
who may be inclined to hare their own vel
lum, parchment and paper (lamped or mark
ed, it is lirreby peclared, that when any per
son (hall deposit any vellum, parchment or
paper at the office of a supervisor, accompa
nied with a lift, fprcifying the number and
denomination of the stamps or marks, which
•re desired to be thereto affixed, the fame
will be transmitted to the General Stpam-
Office, and there properly marked or (lamped,
and forthwith sent back to the fame fiiper
vifor, who will thereupon colledl the duties
and deliver the paper, parchment or vellum,
to the order »f the perfen from whom the
fame was received.

of Porcupine's Gazette, under the title of THE
PORCUHNE ; and to notify (in cafe any gentle
man in America should want it) that the price of
each Number will be sixpence sterling, and that
the calh mull be received by me before the paper

so frequent are the opportunities from London to
Now-York, that files may be forwarded to the lat.
