ADDRESS.
It is worthy of obfe'vation, that in onr infan
cy, and as we advance fii years, wf learn the pro
nounciation of our verracular tongue, by pro
nouncing word by word j and Analogy arcom)nli(h
es what remains to be done, in onler to acquire
the necessary knowledge of it. The rules given
hy Grammarians to attain this objrift are a'most
useless to us, and still more so to the foreigners,
struggling in vain to team the true pronunciation
ofalsuguage with the help of di&ionarißs and
Grammar alone. Though I conceive my scholar?
may attain in the above manner, the acvurate
pronounciation of the French language, yet ftrid
attention is paid to their reading in approved a«-
thors before we begin the forsgoing exercises.
1 will pursue nearly the fnm* method in impart
ing to them the «ont»nts of the two other divifi ns
of my work. I cannot conc'u ie this addref*with
