ladelphia, is by ths Delaware, from which
the diftauce in several places is about thirty
miles.
The proprietors combining their own in
terest with that of the inhabitants, are dis
posed to erect works of public utility,open
oads, Sic. jjnd in every en miles square, a
tea ft of one hundred acres is allotted for a
School, one hundred ac>es for thefirft
resident clergyman of any denomination of
Chrjftians.

Some few Counterfeit Post-Notes of the
Bank of Maryland, having been lately disco
vered in circulation, and onfracing the fame
were fotiud to come fiom the back parts of
Virginia, where they probably firft issued ; to
avoid imposition it is thought necefiary to
give the following description 0f them, by
which they may readily be defeated.
They have the tetter D, for their alphabeti
cal matkj at the left hand fide of the Note.
The paper on which they are printed is
more foft and tender, the strokes of the letters,
inthfc engraving,are in general and
have a darker appearance than in the bills.
The signature William Patterlon, is bad+y
the strokes of the lettersj are ftiff and
labored, and appear to be painted oVcr with
the pen, as well as the flourifhingof the name.
The value is left blank in the engraving* to
be filled up in writing* lo the sum may be
more or lels at pleasure.
No true Post-Notes of the alphabetical
mark* above ddTcribed, have been lately lf
fued, and very "few arc new in circulation*.
The above reward of One Thousand dol
lars will be paid to any perfon r or pcrfons,
who (ball difcovcr, or prosecute 10 couvi&ion.
