R E W A R D.
Some few Counterfeit Post-Notes of the
Bank of Maryland, having been lately difco
verert in circulation, and on tracing- the fame
•were found to come from the back parts of>
Virginia, where they probably firft iflued ; to
avoid impofuion it is thought necellary to
give the following defcrip.ion ot them, by
which they may readily be detest d. • i
They have the letter D, for the*r alphabeti- <
cal mark, at the left hand fide of the Note.
The paper on which they are printed is
more fotr and tendc,. the strokes of the letters,
in the engravingare in general itronger, and
have a darker appearance than in the bills.
'I h( signature William PatteHon, is badly
done, the strokes of the letteis, are ftiff and
labored, and appear to be painted over with
the pen, as well as the floiinlhing of the name.
The value is left blank in the engraving, to
be filled up in writing, l"o the fu tn may be
more or lels at pleafuie.
No true Post-Notes of the alphabetical
mark, above deferibed, have been lately is
sued, and very few are now in circulation.
The above reward of One Thousand dol
lars will be paid to any person, or persons,
■who (hall difcovcr, or prosecute to convi&ion,
the several offenders, or any of them, of the
following defcriptjon, viz.
The pci son or persons, who engraved the
plate.
The printer, or printers of the said bills.
Every person who has a&ed as principal in
anyway in ihe counterfeiting and uttering
the (aid bills.
