An unknown negro tramp shot
and killed a passenger on the Bee
Line railway, seven miles west of
Sidney.Ohio. The negro had boarded
the train at Sidney, but having no
money, was putofTat Harden station.
As the train started he got on the plat
form and fired through the window,
presumably at the conductor but the
ball struck and killed Joseph M. Leh
man, of Houston. The negro escaped.
All hotels and beer saloons of
Bordentown, N. J., have been closed
for an indefinite period, in conse
quence of the common council refus
ing to grant licenses. The charter
lectiou will take place next Monday,
and as an entirely new council will
then be chosen the greatest interest is
felt in it. Bordentown has been a
chartered city for thirty-one years,
and this is the first time in its history
that its public houses have been
closed.

A Reading, Pa., special dispatch
states some time ago the dead body of
a traveling peddler was found in a
reek near New Holland, Lancaster
county. A few days previously he
' had stopped at the inn of George
Marks. The body of the peddler in
dicated foul play, but no-clue could be
obtained of the murderer.
On Monday" of last week, Marks,
tj-h"rfeTkeeper, died a natural death,
"and it is now known as a fact that
before he died he made a full confess
ion that he and a neighbor of his,
named Weidler, had murdered the
peddler and subsequently thrown him
into the creek. The three men had
been gambling at the hotel the peddler
winning from both. When leaving
Marks and Weidler dealt him blows
from behind, killed and robbed him
and threw his body into the creek.
Great excitement prevails. Weidler
is not to be found.

Insurance Companies.
Judge Pearson has rendered a de
cision that associations which require
surviving members to contribute
money to the family or heirs of de
ceased members are not insurance
companies and are not required to
have a license from the insurance com
missioner of the state. The case in
question was The Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania vs. The National Mu
tual Aid Association of Columbus, O.,
of which the secretary of state of Ohio
. is president. The association has been
doing business in this state, having
insured about two thousand persons.
The insurance commissioner brought
suit to test the right of such associa
tions to operate in this state. The
case will be appealed to the supreme
court by the commonwealth. The
insurance commissioners claimed that
the company was liable to a penalty
of $1,000 and their agent at Scranton

Hair Vigo?,
FOR RESTORING GRAY HAIR TO ITS
NATURAL VITALITY AND COLOR.
It is a most agreeable dressing, which
Is at once harmless and effectual, for pre
serving the hair. It restores, with the
ploss and freshness of youth, faileil or gray,
light, and red hair, to a rich brown, or deep
black, as may bo desired. By its use thin
hair is thickened, and baldness often
though not always cured. It checks falling
of the hair immediately, and causes a new
growth In all cases where the glands are
not decayed; while to brashy, weak, or
otherwise diseased hair, it imparts vitality
nml strength, and renders it pliable.
The Vioon cleanses the scalp, cures and
prevents the formation of dandruff; and,
by its cooling, stimulating, and soothing
properties, it heals most if not all of tlio
humors and diseases peculiar to the scalp,
keeping it cool, clean, and soft, under
which conditions diseases of tho scalp and
hair are impossible.
As a Dressing for Ladies' Hair,
The Vioon is incomparable. It is color
!'?!), contains neither oil nor dye, and will
not soil white cambric. It imparts an
agreeable and lasting perfume, and as an
article for the toilet it is economical and
unsurpassed in its excellence.
