A little girl was on the wtreets yesterday selling the new pro duet for five cents a bunch. T.Brooks is planting some thrifty looking trees in front of Judge Derby's residence. Andy Eby is busily engaged in working his farm which is situated west of the windfall farm. B. P. Mercer is now sole proprietor of tte meat market, having purchased his brother's interest. Some people are so envious and narrow-minded that to speak good of a rival were a great sin. "Shoemakers go barefooted," is an old saying, but that new pair of shoes gives the lie to the old saying. Mrs. Dill, mother of Frank and Ben., and Mrs. Healy, is remarkably hale and sprightly for a lady of her age. Dennis Healy says the rafts, did not "stick" on the rocks. Webster fell from a ladder, twenty leet, striking on his head, in juring him very seriously, perhaps fatally. Esquire Aldrlch came near getting his head kicked off yesterday by Doc tor Straight's horse. He says he be lives the Doctor keeps kicking horses on purpose. Last summer he had one that kicked J. L. He learned his trade in Franklin with E. S. Durbin, editor of the Advocate and Journal, and com mence his career as a printer at the age of sixteen. While at Franklin he published a small paper called the Town Pump. When nineteen years old he went to Kansas and started at Topeka the Kansas Journal, but the enterprise soon failed in consequence of the border war. During the war he served in the Fourth Pennsylvania Cavalry. Atterwards lie started a pa' per in Emleuton called the Allegheny Valley Echo, and abandoning that venture on December 25, 1S67 estab lished the Forest Dress at Tionesta, where he issuee the paper until bis death. Mr. Conver will long be re membered by friends and acquaint ances as a genial, whole-souled, tin ented gentleman.
