Summer Travel.
Pleasure travel, which has become bo
oommon with oil classes of Americans
during the Eutumcr mootlis, is nutici
puted by many as the most enjoyable
event of the entire year. It carries
tlicra to new scenes, familiarizes them
with ptrange people, brraks the mo
uotony of their lives, relieves them for a
time fr6m mental and bodily strain, and
reinvigorates them for life's cares and
duties. It, therefore, becomes a mo
mentous question how this recreation,
often limited by considerations of
economy both of time and means, can
luost profitably and pleasantly be eu
joyed. Many of our transportation lines
J.gve arranged routes and rates to meet
the requirements of the people, ami, from
Mason to season these facilities are im
proved and extended. The Penn
sylvania Railroad Company has gained
high reputation for the facilities it an
nually presents this class of travelerB,and
the popularity in lines enjoy is well
merited. 1 boy ezteud into tbe most in
teresting portions of the Middle Slate3,
and eicursiouists chii be .carried over
them for long distances at low rates,
without annoying changes or transfers.
Its roabway and rolling stock are pro
bably the most perfect in America, and
its management is complete, careful and
courteous. As a consequence the com
fort of travelers is assured and their
safoty guaranteed. Every reader of cur
rent news is aware of tbe fact that 8
"terrible accident"is rarely chronicled on
any portion of this great railroad system.
So far as scenery goes, no lines of
railroad on tho conlinen cant surpass
those ruoiug though Pennsylvania
NaguiGcent agricultural panoramas,
beautiful river views, splendid mouutain
pictures, picturesque hill and valley,
lovely villages,and flourishing towns und
cities are seen in quick succession, A
ride of twelve hours between Phil
adelphia and Pittsburg show more in
teresting variety than cau be seen in the
same time and distance anywhere e!.je in
the United States, and from this main
channel a (core of brauches run, leadiug
to localities aud resorts of unsurpassed
attractiveness and woildwide popularity
JLhe state of Pennsylvania is m itself
bu interesting study, its bosom holds
all the anthracite and much of the
bituminous coal found on the continent.
Its hidden fountains produce the larger
portion of the oil now so essential to the
comfort cud industry of the world.
Many of its hills are depositories ot iron
anl other ores, which arc utilized in im
lncnce manufactories seen in every val
ley. Its forests supply the principal
part of the lumber used in tho great
cities of the Atlantic seaboard. Its soil
varies from the richest to the poorest.
Its territory is washed by the tides of
the Atlantic aud the wutei'3 of Lake
Erie, and is drained into the Gulf ot
Mexico by rivers navigable more than
two thousand miles. Its doundaries
completely separate New England uud
iew lork trora the Mississippi valley
aud its entire area is dotted by soeuee oi
more than ordinary historical mterest
All these combinations add to the charm
and interest of travel, and every Am
vricuQ can find something in it instru
ctive aud gratifying.
The accommodation provided for sum
mer tourists on the line of the Peun
bylvania Itailroad are uusurpassed. Uood
notels in all the towns reached by U arc
tho rule, not the exception, and many of
them are elegant in all tueir appoint
jasnt?. It would be difficult to select
any highway of travel anywhere that
can compare, in the essentials of com
fort, safoty, expedition, aud interest
with the magnificent system railroads
managed by this company

VEGETABLE SICILIAN
HAIR
RENEWER
Every year increases the popularity
of this valuable Hair Preparation;
which is due to merit alone. "We can
assure our old patrons that it is kept
fully up to its high, standard ; and it
is the only reliable and perfected prep
aration for restoring Gbay on Faded
Hair to its youthful color, making it
soft, lustrous, and silken. The scalp,
by its use, becomes white and clean.
It removes all eruptions and dandruff,
and, by its tonic properties, prevents!
the hair from falling out, as it stimu
lates and nourishes the hair-glands.
By its use, tho hair grows thicker and
etronger. In baldness, it restores tho
capillary glands to their normal vigor,
and will create a new growth, except
in extreme old age. It is the most
economical Haiti Dkesslng ever used,
as it requires fewer applications, and
gives tho hair a splendid, glossy ap
pearance. A. A. Hayes, JLD, State
Assayer of Massachusetts, says, "Tho
constituents aro pure, lind carefully
selected for excellent quality; and I
consider it the Best Pbepabatiox
for its intended purposes."

FOB TELE WHISKERS.
As our Renewer in many cases re
quires too long a time, and too much
care, to restore gray or faded Whisk
ers, we have prepared this dye, in one
preparation; which will quickly and
effectually accomplish this result. It
is easily applied, and produces a color
which will neither rub nor wash off.
