THE PEOPLE'S ADDRESS
"Awake, Arise, or It Forever Fallen!"
TO THE 20HEST VOTSSS OF ELK CO,
Fri.i,ow Citizens: Tho time for
action is here! We have placed in the
field, for all the county offices, men pe
culiarly fitted for the various positions
for whioh they ara respectively named
Men who themselves had no lot nor part
in procuring their nominations. They
are well known to the people of the
county every one of them. All pure.
high-minded gentlemen, who would
scorn to ask for an office for themselves.
Here are their names:
For County Treasurer IIEZEK1AH
HORTON, of Ilorton township.
For County Commissioner A. T.
ALDRICH, of Jones township.
For District Attorney RUFUS LU-
CORE, of Fox township.
For County Auditor A. W. GRAY,
of Jay township.
For Jury Commissioner R ANSOM
T. KYLER, of Fox township.
Now is the time to teach designing!
office-hunting men that the day has gone
by when a "nomination is equivalent to
an election!" Now is the timeto burst
the iron bands of Party! Now ist he time
for the People to assert their rights.and
make known the majesty of their power
through the ballot-box on Thesday next!
Remember that the Regulars, with
keen eye to personal aggrandisement,
are ever vigilant active unscrupulous
Remember that Beer is already flowing
as freely as the waters that trickle down
onr bill-sides! And money is used
without Gtint! To defeat them is no
easy task. If we succeed, we must
WORK! WORK!! WORK!!! If we
do our duty, victory is surely ours! And,
from this time forth, politicians and pa
ties must heed the wholesome lesson
that the office must seek the man, and
not the man the office!
Then, Fellcw-Citizens, we entreatyou,
devote a few days to the good of your
county! We have only one short week!
Let us do oar duty!
By order of the People's Convention.
