Mail Service, Thcro ore in the
United Slates C3,511 miles of railway
mail service, that being an increase of
5,603 miles since the same period lmt
year. Massachusetts is the only New
England State in which there nro 1,01)0
miles of mail railway service, that State
laving nearly 1,700 miles.. Delaware
Las 248 miles, while of the other Mid
dle States, New York has 4,720, New
Jersey 1,184, and Pennsylvania 3.670
miles. Of the Southern States, Arkan
sas, Florida, and West Virginia have
less than 5,000, whilo in the others there
are from 1,000 to 2,000 miles. Illinois
has the largest railway mail service,
6,520 miles; Ohio nett, 4,877; New
York third, Pennsylvania fourth, and
Missouri fifth. In the latteStato thrcre
are 3,340 miles.

Mrs. Lyster, aged ninety-one, was
buried at Graysville, Indiana, in the
wedding garments which she wore
seventy-three years ago. They were of
linen, spun and woven by herself.
And now comes news that the girls
of Elkhart, Indiana, are lorming a
smoking club. And so in the wild era
of "female advancement" women are
dropping, ooe by one, their distinctive
charms.
An Iowa matron, who, ai'tcr languish
ing iu bonds of matrimony for thirty
five years, recently came into an unex
pected inheritance of $500, immediately
invested in a divorce.
Miss A. Radcliff, of Chester county,
Pa., was so shocked at the death trom
paralysis of her sister, that she died too,
find both were buried in one grave. One
was sixty years old and the other sixty
two. A Tennessee lady presented her hus
band with a pair of twius, and in due
season added triplo's. "Dear me," ex
claimed an astonished neighbor, "I
s'pose Mrs. Stcbbings will have quad
rupeds next and then centipedes."
