First Bio Eao of the Sbasin. Henry
Warner ot this place, brought rather a
large sized egg into our eanclum a few days
ago. We suppose the hen noticed our ad
vertisement for big eggs, and thought she
would try her hand another proof of tiie
benefits derived from advertising. Said
egg was the production of a small-sized
Spanish hen and measures 61x8 incches.
Flood. At ln-t "that flood" so much
has been snid about has come. On
Monday last the ice went out of the Clarion
and the water commenced to rise. This
put our lumbermen in a state of good
humor, and preparations were at once com
menced to take advantage of the opportu
nity offered for floating the lumber tj mar
ket. Tuesday morning the indications
were still good and it is believed that most
if not all the lumber in this section will be
taken to market.

Ridgway now has a Silver Cornet Baud,

resembling the last call ot a sick owl,
emanating from 11 silver instruments,
including two drums and 1 pair of brass

Free Lecture. Last Friday eveu
ing Rev. J. C. Sullivan lectured in the
Court House at this place on "Habit."
The lecture was free, but owing to the
fact of its being advertised as a temper
ance lecture very few attended, but
those in attendance were well paid for
their trouble by hearing an able and in
structive lecture on a subject of interest
to every cue. Mr. Sullivan bandied
the subject well; his illustrations were
good; his address pleasing and bis
points well taken. We hope to see
Mr. Sullivan here again at no far dis
tant day.

are presented to the subscribers in this
number. Commencing with the steel

then a tinted cut, "The Sports of
April," suitable for the season; a pretty
