last Saturday they played the Surprise
of Oyster's, and after a splendidly played
Harue came off the winners by a score of

they would . have materially decreased

less wild throwing. The day was all
that could have been wished tor, and
the presence of a large crowd of specta

of the betting fraternity were present,
a id we are glad to learn that some of
ti em were losers. Base ball is a most
uncertain game to bet on, and we would
like to see less of it. This being the
second gamo of the series, and each
club having won one. a third is necessi
tated, which will be played at Oyster's

Leaving the Knst and arriving at
Chicago or Indianapolis, how shall we
resch the West? The best Line is ac

together with the B. A M. Railroad by
tbe Iron Bridge at Burlington, and
called tbe Builingtoo Itoute,
Tho Main lino of the Route running
to Omaha, connects with tbe great Pa
cifio Roads, and forms to-day the lead
ing route to California. The Middle
Branch, entering Nebraska at Platts
mouth, passes through Linoolo, the
State Capital, and will this year be
finished to Fort Kearney, forming the
shortest route across tho Continent by
over 100 miles.
Another branch of the B. M., di
verging at Bed Oak, falls into a line
running down the Missouri through St
Joe to Kansas City, and all Kansas
