Suicide. About noon on Thursday.
Justus licss of McKeau township commit
ted suicide lie was a farmer, living ncai
the line between McKean and Wuterford
township. lie was about 7 years of age
and has been an invalid, and colCuuJ to
his bed, for over sis months, during which
time he has frequently said he had no busi
ness to live. At the time mentioned, he
sent his wife to tho spring for water. A
loaded zun stood at the head of the bed,
and with it he succeeded in shooting him
self through the neck, killing him almost
iustautly. Eiic D!spath.
The French authorities complain that
much valuable information has been given
to the Prussion (Jenerali by the sable
telegrams sent to this couutry srotu France,
and subsequently transmitted back to Mer
lin. Of all the uses to which Morse's
great invention has been applied this is the
most astonishing. The fuet that armies in
pight of each other f hould learn facts sufl
ticiently important to affect their move
ments through the enterprise of newspapers
published more than threo thousand miles
from the scene of uctiou is one
af the greatest marvels of these marvelous
tiuus.
War Topicl. Poor Napoleon is re
duced, according to last accounts, to beg
garly personal income of $10,000 go'd per
annum.
Tho downfall of Louis Napoleon recalls
the cutting repartee which he is said to
have received fVow Lady Ulessington.. The
Countress had befienJed hiui when ho was
a poor adenturer in London, and went to
Paris to be near him after he had become
prosperous. Much to her chrain, he
paid her no attentions, but one day when
their carriages were abreast in a thronged
street, Napoleon said, ' Countress how long
do you expect to remain in Paris?" She
answered, with dignify and ominous wit.
' Only a short time. How long do you ex
pect to stay hero ?"
Touohing and amusing hospital stories
conneoted with (he war begin to be current.
For instance, a Prussian and a Frenchman
find themselves opposing eachother ; both
fire, and are wounded Presently they
find themselves in two adjoining beds of an
ambulance. The Frenchman was a Lor
raine, and spoke a little German. Of course
talking soon commenced and ia au hour or
two they were fast friends, and began plan
ning the most amicable arrogements for
'alter the war." Ah !" said the German,
"if you knew what a fine grocery I have at
Liedieberg ! If you do not promise to
como and spend a month with me when the
campaign is over, I shall not believe in
your fiendship." "No, no," 'was the repTyj
"that cannot be until you have tasted tho
nice little Moselle wino. that we make
at homo." Dinjmtci.
It is reported that the cx-Empctor Louis
Napoleon, recently purchased through his
agents, an estate in Kent, England, and
that he has invested in British and other
solid securities about thirty millions of dol
lars, and has an annual income of about a
million from his investments in English
funds alone, with as much more from in,vcit
ments in other countries, the United States
included. With the sweet reflection that
in bis misfortune penury is not included,
and that the wants of his stomach are to be
appeased with the necessities and dainties
of life prepared by tho hands of the Queen
of Prussia's own cook, Napoleon is in a toler
able good position after nil. In his old ago
he retires from public life with a haudsome
competence to counteract the great cures
which rested upon him when, tha 'Empire
was Peace ; and besides has a wife and child
left to console him in bis declining days.
Not ono-fenth of his age have been thus
comfortably situated. Ex.

Now, reader, self-abuse, vcneral disease

pable of producing a weakness of the gene
rative organs. The organs of the genera
tion, when in perfect health, make the mail
Did you ever think that those bold, defi
ant, energetic, pcrseveriug busities3-men
are always those whose generative organs
are in perfect heuUli ? You never hear
such men complain of being melcncholy,
of nervousu'ess, of palpatation ol tho heart.
They are never afraid they cannot succeed
in business ; they don t become sad and dis
couraged ; they are always polite and pleas
ant in company ot ladies, and look you and
rneui ri"lit in the lace none of your down
cast looks or any other meanness about
them. I do not mean those who keep the
orgrns inflated by running to excess. These
will not only ruin their constitutions, but
ulso those they do business with or for.
Ilow mnney men, from badly cured diseases,
from ihe etl'eciS of self-abuse and excesses,
have brought about that state of weakness in
those orgiius thai h.-w reduced the general sys
