The January number ot thiB most excellent Magazine is on our table, with two ot the most splendid steel engra vings that we ever saw. The first one is called "Farted br Fate," and is accompa. nied with a very powerful story by Frank Lee Benedios. The second is called "A Bitter Morning," and represents two chil dren skating on the ice. This is one of the most cunning pictures we have seen for a long time. As fot Peterson's fashion plates, they can't be beat. They are engra. ved on steel and are really supurb ; every lady ought to see them.. The price of this magazine is only two dollars a year, while the inducements to Clubs are very great. Specimens are sent gratis to those wishing to get up clubs. Address Charles J. Under its provisions the roost combustible fluids can be sold, and thoie is nothing to deter them from be in" sold, as has been heretofore decided by our courts. On Saturday, an itinerant vender of explosive fluid called at the gro oery store of Charles Stuckhouse, in Frauk ford, and exhibited a sample, declaring it would not explode. lie set fire to the fluid when it exploded, creating a scsoeof terror and scatteiing the vile stuff over the persons of all in the room, savo the owner of the infernal stuff A child, named Oldfield, was so badly burned tlat bIio lingered' in agony until Mo nday, when death terminated her sufferings. Iler brother and another lad, together with Mr. Ftackhouse, were also burned. The flames spread to the goods in ths store, but they were extin uiehed promptly. A policeman took the man who accomplished all this misery into custody, but permitted him to escape from bim. although he afterwards gave himself up. One of the very first aots of the Leg islature should be to prevent the sale of these murderous fluids.
