Kail Road Mektino The R: ill Road
Meeting at St. Marys, last week, was well at.
landed, and considerable interest manifested
in regard to building a branch Road from that
place to connett tho B. & W. Road at
Larrabeo's. It was decided to put corps of
engineers on the roate at onco. That looks
like business.
Heavy Bank Rouncny.-- The County
National Rank of Cleurfield was opened by
burglars on Wednesday night last. The vault
was chiseled into and tho burglar-proof safe
broken open. About fifteen thousand dollars
in cash were stolen, and four thousand five
hundred dollars in United States bonds, two
thousand dollars of which wcr registered.
A reward of Five Thousand dollars is offered
f"r the arrest of the robbers. It will not
afiect tho solvency of the bauk.
Ateb's Amejucan Almanac, for 18H9 has
been received by Powell & Kiiue, Agents, for

Colonel Allen, our American Consul, is an old
gentleman from Ksntucky. He is very hos-1
pital, full of jokes and stories, and on the whole
is what we young naval goutleman call a lip
top fellow. I reveal no confidence Imparted to
me by the Government of the Celestial Empire
in stating that Colonel Allen docs no discredit
to his Kentucky educatiou, and iu the nutter
of a good square drink is up to the emergencies
of his situation, but never to excess.
