seem to forget that it costs money to pub
lish a newspaper. Very few have paid for
the paper, notwitbstunding we requested
them so to do through the paper and by
sending bills. Every delinquent must send
the money, or we shall be compelled
to stop their paper. Hereafter no sub
scribers name will be put upon our books

Masonic The pn'mbers of Elk Lodge, in
spirit of enterprise worth of. imitation, have
erected a beautiful and commodious Hall in this
place, and propose to dedicate it in a becoming
manner. The dedication services will tuke
place on Thursday, Feb. 25th by the It. W. D.
V. Grand Master, Geo. Metzger, and other
irand Officers. Several Lodges in this section
of the State have been invited, and a large
gathering of Masons is expected.
In the evening there will be a social party
at the Hyde House.
Duties of Postmasters Much troub'e
would be saved if portmasters were more gen
erally familiar with their duties Postmasters
thould remember that when a paper remains
dead in the office for four consecutive weeks,
it is their duty to send the publisher of the
paper a written notice of the fact stating if
passible the reason why the paper is notiaken.
The returning to the publisher of a paper
marked " not taken," refused," or " un
called for," is not a legal notice. Postmasters
who fail to comply with the law in this re
spect, are liable for the time said papers re
main dead ifl their office.
