Hoofland's Bitters. Hcoflaiid's German
Bitters is well known to the iuvalid. For
many years it has been in use, and its reputa
tion is unimpaired. It is not claimed for it
that it is competent to perform miracles, but
there are many diseases and disabilities which
it con retch more readily than af.y oiher
known remedy , and in all such cases it is an
excellent remedy. Dyspepsia, and diseases
resulting from a disordered Liver, or a de
rangement of the digestive faculties, come
within its scope, and persons suffering from
such diseases have found great relief from a
fair trial of this celebrated Bitters, This
remedy is not alcoholic, .contains do rum or
whiskey, and cannot make drunkards. Its
reputation is backed up by testimonials from
many eminent Clergymen and others.
Hoofland's German Tonic Is a combina
tion of all the ingrediants of the Bitters, with
pure Santa Crus Rum, orange, anise, &o. It
is used for the same diseases as the Bitters,
in cases where an Alcoholic Stimulaut is neces
sary. It is a preparation of rare pjedicinal
value, and most agreeable to the palate.

At a rock blasting on the Lebanon
Springs Railroad, . in the town of South
Petersburg, Rensselaer county, N. Y., on
Saturday morning, Jan. SO, 4hrce men,
naaied John Connere and E. B. Webster,
of Syracuse, and William Clayton were
killed, and five others seriously wounded
by the premature explosion of nitro-glycer.
ine. Of the injured, John O'Neal cannot
possibly survive. The killed were horribly
mutilated, their limbs being blown off and
their bodies rendered almost unrecogniza
ble. The San Francisco papers complain that
(tbe yield of wheat in California has fallen
from forty bushels an acre down to twenty
bushels j and that, if the present impro
vident style of farming continues, the crops
will not average over twenty bushels an
acre. The old custom of burning the
etuble and straw, instead of turning it into
compost, is objected to.
Last Sunday the congregation of the
Dutch Reformed Church, in Little Tails,
N. J., were considerably frightened by the
fall of a large quantity of snow and ice
from the root, which made a fearful racket
in tumbling down. At that time the con.
gregatioo. was listening attentively to the
sermon, when the cry of fire wa9 started
A rush was then made for the doors, but
minister and hearers oon got over the
scare, and went back to finish the services.

A New Remfhy in CoNsrMPT'ON. A
Physician who hid Consumption for Revet al
years, with f. eqtient bleedings of the lungs,
cured himself with medicine unknown to
the profession, when his case appeared hope
less. He is the only physician who has used
it in his own person, or who has any knowledge
of its virtues ; a d he can ascribe the degree
of health he now enjoys to nothing but th
use of his medicine; and nothing but utter
despair and entire extinction of all hope of
recovery, together with a want of confidence
in all others induced him to hazard the exper
inicnt. To those suffering with any disease
of the lungs he proffers a treatment he con
fidently believes will eradicate the disease.
