2. Its name, indicatin ez it does, that the in

This Cbjechshen kin be easily sneered. The

The change of title wt . = strategy. That change

haint got the academic grove for yoo to walk pen
eiVely in at the twilite hour, s 11111.9i1l onto the
eventful past, but we kin easily move that corner

There's another reason why yoo ebood do it.
The edncashuel interests nv the South shoed • Le

and who to edjncate. We don't want it too com

ther is in it. I'm about the only one here who
kin rite.were ther more it wood hurt tnystandin.
Look at-wet misseellaneons education has done
for the . North. Noo England is a cloud • bustin
with education—that black cloud has swept over
the North, and all over that country its drops hey
fell in the shape 11V Pehools, academies and col
leges and with. • Coneekently 'there's no Democra
cy ther, and the heavier the shower a locality re
ceived the less Democracy ther is. • In yoor hands
it wood be safe. Niggers woodent get it nor poor
whites, but the sons Iry the chivalry, nv the dom
inerit race, they alone wood tread the flowery
paths with yoo:
- We haven't the, society at the Giese Roads in
wich yoo her bin accustomed to move ; but wat
try that? Let it be known that yoo aro here, and
the Democriev nv the North will make this a
place nveturimer resort aridity winter recreatherr.
'nets will be ther Mecca—yoor'e will be the shrine
at wick they will come to worship._ •
Then come. To yoo the Cross noels opens
her arms, and offers her bosom for yoo to repose
onto. robe 1' Erect here 'your altars and your

highest place in its gift, in reparashen by the
wrong they did yoo two years ago. '

\ PASTnES.—Look ttte• water Supply in
pastures. Nothing dries - up the fountain of
milk like a lack of water: See also that the
grass is not fed off too close, for any rsi u
may be the last forsome weeks, and then
Oermanent

MOWING LAND.—Early in the - month it is
usually well to go throtigh• the meadows .arid
pastures, and•pull or cut up with a spud thu
rankest of the weeds, or those most dama"-.
ging to the grass and hay.
.Ccoysn, if cut early ivhen just coruitte in-,
to blossom, and given : a light dressing ct
plaster or of any fine compost; will, if the
stools are strong, make a vigorous sec.Qh.L
growth, and ripen a paying crop of seed .
Every farmer might raise his own chA er
seed in most parta of the country.
HAYING will begin in favored spots—warm ,
moist, sunny meidows--and'there are many
meadows which it is worth while to cut early,
in order to get this much out of the way be
fore the main crop of gr.* is suffering fo
cutting. Snch. are especially thoSe meadow 8
which you can rely- upon for a good after
math. Cut close on thick sods, but not oh
thin or open ones. Cut with the machine
when the dew is all off the grass, and if a
tedder is used, keep it in Motion through the
grass all the time, after it has lain abbut an
hour ; the more the. grass is tossed and aired
the quicker it- will dry. Rake it up while
the sun is still very hot, having all In winrows
before four o'clock, and leave it In cocks hig
enough to retain the heat well into the night.
A good.part will need but very little sunning
the next day, and ought ttinady to be simply
opened and shaken up after the dew Is otl
and the ground- hot. When mowing ma
chines and hay tedders can not be used, cut
while the dew is on, turn once; rake up while
warm, give the cocks a daily airing.and'sun
ning, but do the curing of the hay in the
cocks, leaving thew well made to shed- rain
and to hold the heat of the hay. Never let
any dew fall on the loose hay.
Coas.--arly maturing kinds will do very
welt planted "the first week in June ; soak in
warm. water until it nearly sprouts, then stir
it about with "a little , previously warmed PINS
tar until every keine} is coated, then sprinkle
with Plaster or lime..
FRUIT. END. GRAIN PROSPECT&
The prospects for fruit through the whole
country' never were , more flittering. It is
too late for frosts to downy damage, and on-
ly. the cureulio and some' other insects can
diminish the yield ; but whatever they may'
do will be insignificant. . .
' Strawberries have been received from Vir
ginia, and now are arriving from Delaware
and• Maryland. Iu a Very few days we shall
have them from. New•J - ersey. The. amount
planted and to be marketed is larger that in
any other year,
.not only in the vicinity, of
New York; but of all other Cities. and towns'
in the country. Whether they will sell at a
,reduced price remains to be seen: To the
grower this is an,important question. He is ,
expecting that prices will keep up, because a
taste for fruit has been cultivated, and has
only kept pace with increased planting.
Peaches will be in full supply. Scarcely 'a
peach orchard will fail to bear. Icflpealities
.where this fruit - has been abandoned, the few
trees tli - at here and there remain are seen
loaded with fruit;' and even old and-apparent
ly withered branches _bear their toothsome
.thirdens. As everybody : liken peaches, so
that a cultivation of a Mate for them was im._
possible, prices Will not exceed thoie of or
dinary years, though It must be _Considered
that large supplies will be 'needed for can
ning, as only a "Ty small stock was Put up
last season. The that arrivals are expected.
from Virginiaots the orchards' further South
daring the war went to decay. Raspberries
and other:small fruits will be abundant.—
Doolittle'e Black Cap is growing in favor, and
this year will first appear in many markets.
A few of the new varieties - of blackberries
will be offered, and those Interested will be
.enabled to compare them - with, the Lawton;
which is not only late, but so sour that a sub
stitute is greatly needed. The prospect.for
wheat alai other small grain still la good, and
.this not only through the Eastern, Middle,
and Western States,
,but also through' the
whole South. In some of the Cotton - States
where wheat selcipm was' sown they have
many nice fields, which form a rare and
bessutiful sight. Regarding coin; the pros
pect. at present, particularly in' the West, is
not very bright. In, the. Eastern and' Middle
States all the uplands intended forcorn, and
