-There are many abuses that call for reform,
prominent among, Which . is the practice of
having a Poor House- Senator With the right
to select choice parcels of the public land
which he cart purchaie at private sale from
the Custodians. If the party in.power be
permitted to establish thisiletas a precedent;
we are fearful that in, course • of. time there
,_will be precious little puldic property left 'in
tbeCounty. For the Poor; Douse. Senator

and probably, othei'dignitaries of their par
-ty, having become very likely, millionaires,'
may desire to convert, the jail or court house
or poor house into private palatial-residences,
