since themSuperfutendent, of the same.. From ISIT. to
.1861 the sulphur became so bad in some of - the,work•
hiss that it was with great diftleulty-and often' delay,
that we. continued - in operation.- In , these particular
parts of the mines We had many stoppages, and often
operatives injured by explosions. , I tried every System
of ventilation: but none appeared to answer the purpose
until I introduced. the -Exiaanstei," or "J Lowden Bea
diets. Fan." ...Since then we have .had bat few accidents
from .explosions. and these but . •
I am free to say that therein no system of ventilation
as yet known. equal to Ihe Louden Beadle Fan."—
And not
,only *does it perfectly ventilate: a, Colliery,
which is indispensably necessary to life anti health.,but
is also a great saving of e xpense as compared to funatice
or steam jet ventilation. In 'my opinion, no extensive
