ven. The object of our visit was to attend.

It is quite discouraging, to those teachers who
attend these meetings; even, making sacrifices
to do so, to find so few that take any interest

who are appointed by the - Execntive Cominit
tee to read essays and reports. ' They Might
to feel it a duty, to do all in their power to .
promote the interests of ihe Asstniation ; - but
on the contrary, it is with 'difficulty that's
stlfilcient number of essayists can :be got to
furnish material for, a Meeting. Some of the
members when written to, never take any ,
notice of:the communication ; others again
agree to prepare essays, but when the day. of
meeting comes they are absent_ A large'
•number of persons have joined the Associar
tion who, seem to think their -whole duty is
performed 'when they have signed their names
to the Constitution ; others again, vvill not
attend the meeting,s *hen they are 'brought
to their own doors. Is this .right? :Let - us
look at it calmly, and see if many of 'us do
not feel that wehave been derelict in our du
ty in regard to this Asiociation. It meets
semi-nrintially, and certainly, With' the mate
rial we have in this Cduhty, we ought to be
able to make our meetings interesting.. 'yre
