With another of the writers, whose letter is
before us, who thinks that lie was laughed at
the other evening on making his first appear
ance in society, at a large and fashionable
party. ,He says "I knew very little of the
customs and habits of Such an aristocratic
gathering. I have been laughed - at a' great
deal since, but for what 'I cannot imagine;
so; I will tell you, as far as I remember, ,ex
actly what transpired during the evening, in
the hope that you -- can tell me 'where the
laugh comes in.'.
I entered the parlor, mad was taken up and
