This is an average of nearly 141 quarts
W.F.day during the whole period of about 19}
months.
Trout. January 1011, 1850, to January 10th,
1851, she gave 6,471 quarts of milk, being an
average fOr onn year of over quarts pre
day. Allowing that , 7 quarts of her,milk pro
duced a pound of butter, the whole quantity
would hake made 1,289 4.7 tbs. of butter;
and at the same rate, for one year, 924 3-7
as.; a week; 17 5.7 tbs., and over 2 3.7 lb+.
per day, fur 365' sticcessive days; being on an
average of about 75 cents per day'i
it to have been sold for 30 cents a pound, or
$5 25 per week, or $273 fir one year. ° The
skim Med milk of one year, at 3 cents a quan
would have sold for $194, which added to
$273, the value of the butter, would have
amounted to $467 13 for one year. What
yields ti better profit than' a good milch cow?
So .much for the history of one "native
