BIBEE-BURNING IN NEW VOILIE
We incidentally alluded, last week, to the
outrage
.perpetrated 'not loug)since in New
York by the Ritmo Catholics, in attempting
dritroy the Bibles given to the Sabbath
School childreu of Rev: Mr. Pease, on the
Fire Points. The following account of it is
taken from a New York. paper:
The.Romanists, of course, deny thelh
ble-Burning at the Five Points, but the proofs
are overwhelmitig that themfamous outrage
did occur. Mr. A. Stoneltice, Who witnessed
the whole -transaction and rescued the Bible
from its destroyers, while they were kicking
it about the streets, says he was standing at
one of the windotirs of the school rooms.of
the House of Industry, when his attention
was suddenly arrested by observing a man,•
a prominent Catholic, take from the hands of,
a,ebild a newly bound Bible—ha turned the
leaves over, one of whielt he tore out ; draw
