A CHOLERA. STORY
An incident of the cholera occurred in this city
a few days since, which for several reasons we
think worth recording. Among the household's
which had been entered and stricken by the fatal
disceave was that Mr. Hangley, 'a worthy Itish
roan, who has long been employed by the / Com•
col:sinner of streets.' His wile, a watm.hearted,.
motherly woman, devotedly attached to children
and sell-sacrificing to promote their welfare and
happiness, was taken with the cholera and died
and was buried on Thursday, Sept. 29:h.1 Next
a lovely little daughter, 7 years of age, was taken
sick, and she too died, and her body lard tutand
her limbs adjusted in the embrace of the lking of
terrors. The father applied to Alderman Win
gate for a cofran, but for some cause it could not
be had immediately, and he delivery wasytistpon
ed fur en hour or two: during this time Mr.
Henget) , returned home, when the auppo4d dead
child stretched forth her arms, with the eXclarne.
tion,. Oh, Father ! I have been to heave n end it
is a laeauttful place!'
After the surprise and excitement of the girl
had Subsided, sher a relation - of what she had
.veep, as eheexpres g d it.. in heaven.'
' She saw. her mother in heaven, and. she was
taking care of little children, many of whom she
called by name, among them she raid were four
children of Uncle Hangley, and thus children of
Uncle Carey's. Aunt'Lynch is not there now.
but will be tomorrow; Acid on Sunday 1 shall
go back again.'
But,' said ati older alder, 'lt canr.Ct be so,
dearest, for there are but two of Uncid Casey's
children dead I'
. Yee; F.SVJ three of them in heaven, and dear
mother was taking care of them. All Were dress
ed in white, and ell were happy and the children
playing. Oh I it was beautiful there I and 1 shell
go, there again nest Sunday eftClllo4l at lour
o'clock.'
Mr. Ilengley immediately informed IMr. Win
gate tbat hie daughter area not dead ;! when be,
in company with Or. Morrison, visitedihe house
arid the little girl related sub, tantially - the came
story. It seems, too, that, shortly . after this rela
tion of the little girl ; of what she had seen and
heard in heaven, a messagii, eanae front Mr. Casey
in Cermet, giving inlortnation pf the death of
another child, and inviting them to attend the fun.
rrd.
Of the four children of her uuele }Langley, two
died in this city, end two were drownFo on their
passage from Ireland.,
W e called on Saturday to see and talk with
this little girl, but she wits very feeble, and just
then in a drowse, and we did'llet - allow her to be
disturbed. She ii said to have a 'Teri thoughtful
and serious counterience; and to .be a very inter
estirignhild. She had no wish to bee, but pre
ferred returning to her mother. The father and
sisters ere seriously, but very happily t impressed
with the Olatione of this sweet child, d et! joy tally
b„i ese ukettery she tells. Their house ts a pat
tern of neatness ' and they all posies hearts over.
Bowing with affe ction, and are sincerely happy on
account their heavenly messenger.
I wlis sorry,' said Mr. H. to Dr. Morrison, in
the honest, truthful simplicity of hut bearr, when
Lo y go ,x) wile died, but Fen not now, but only
wish to be with her.' The elder sisters too, live
now
,in joyful hope of meeting - at length, and
they rare not bow eoon,'ll it be God's time, their
dear mother, in. heaven, where she bad been seen
by their angel sister, who has been permitted to
return to the earth, and to make the fart known
to them,,
Since thealinie was published there have been
great many 'inquiries redirecting this little girl.
moment 'which we will now answer. Althengh
at the time the seeming death of this child it
was not supposed that her aunt Lynch Wes dait•
gerously ill, am clot having the cholera but attack
ed with dysentery.' Bin she died the nut day as
stated. :.
