At a public Town Meeting of the citizens of •
Pottsville, held at the Town Hall, on Monday
evening, J tottery 15, 1849, pursuant to a call of
Council—the meeting was organized by the ap
pointment of the following officers:—President,
W. H. Marshall; Vice Presidents, John H•
Downing, A. B. White, F. 17. Epting, Samuel
Hariz, and Andrew M ortuner ; Secretaries, Frank
Pont. and J. H. Adam.
.The meeting was addressed by J. H. Adam,
who offered the fallowing Resolutions, which
wore unanimously adopted,
Resolved, That in the opinion of this meeting
the remnval of the Seat of Justice from Orwigs
'burg to Pottsville, can only be affnted by a de
termined effort on the part of our citizens to raise
by volurvary subscriptions, a sum sefficient to
purchase the Lot selected by the eammi;:ioners,
arid t. erect thoreon a euicahlo Cara HOUS3 and
Public Offices, in compliance with the provisions
of the Removal Law.
Resolved, That ci committee of three froM each
Ward be authorized and empowered to collect
subscriptions for the purpose of erecting the Court
Heave and different .4ficia fur the safe keeping of
