• Schuylkill, RESPECTFULLY REPOR7

good condition, butthey findlt necessary, fqr the care
keeping of the records in the Prothonatory's.Office.that

they would also respectfully' recommend the 'purchase
of an Mon safe, sufficiently large for the purpose of the
safe keeping of the books, papers, &c.
SNc also visited the Prison and found It clean, and
She pri.mners as comfortable as the nature of the build.:
' ing could admit of. The Grand Jury also present that
the " Watkirr Prichard now." known as Guinea Hill,
in the borough of Pottsville, sea public nuisance for, all
kinds of rice and immorality, and the Grand Jury ire
aware that a large number of the Criminal cases brought
before your Honors, enninaie from that quarter.
. We would, also present, t. hie Curt that the Port
Carbon and Mount Carbon Rail Road, locate across
the Centre Turnpike near liloaM Carbon, us a public
nuisance from the manner in which the sable is located
and used by the said Company. The - crossing of the
Turnpike by the Locomotive Engine, is dangerous to i
the community, and we cannot but fear that some acci
dent attended with loss of life will, sower or later. el
cur, unless some Other, and better protection be given I
so travellers_ and others passing along the Turnpike--
And further we recommend as a protection tolbe pub
that, a " gate" be placed by the Rail Road,Company
- upon the Rail Road to be opened when said Rail Road
is being used, and closed at all other times; so that per
sons travelling over the Public Highway, may not be
'exposed to the danger to which they are now liable
: from the passage of the Locomotive Engine. The , lo

renders the crossing of it part icularly dangerous as the
• engines are passing 'intim Rail Road, theyheing hidden
by the R. Road bridge and 'housei on the side of the
road, and the inclinatton of the Turnpike renders it dif
ficult to stop a horse and vellicla suddenly. es for a
horse unused to the noise and appearance of the Engines
•, to remain quiet during the passing of the trains, and
would most respectfully request that some measure.
may be taken to Prohibit the public frouXdangef when

"I thank heaven," said a-doting mother, "my child is
saved firm the jaws of death " •
Beyond all doubt, Ur. Swaynets Compound Syrup of
Wild Cherry is the most valuable medicine in. this or
anytother country. I am certain I have witnessed tourer
than one hundred caseiw here it has been' attended
with coinplete success. - I have used it myself in an
obstinate attack of Bronchitis, in which it proved ef
fectueln an exceedingly .ahort time, considering th'e
seventy of the case. I can recommend it in 'the ful
lest confidence of its superior virtues. I would ad
vise that no family should be witliousit ; Is very pleas
ant, and always beneficial; worth double and often ten
mes its price. The public arc assured there is no
hackery about it.

IREAD THE TESTIMONY , '
• PHILADELPIIIA,, September 4th, 1816.
Dr. IL Swayne :—Dear Sir v--Ileing for a length of
time afflicted with a very violent cough, with a pain in
my side and breast, soreness of the' lungs, shortness of
breath, loss of appetite, night sweats, &c. I made
trial of various remedies, which were recommended
highly in the papers, but gradually grew worse The
violeeee.of my cough was such, that the blood reshed
profusely _fro my, nostrils when the-paroxysms of
coughing cants upon me. Indeed my whole sykein
seemed -prostrated, and the hour of my departure sq'em-.
ed close at hand.
At this time vim recommended the use of your COM
POUND SYRUP OF WILD CHERRY, which immedi
ately i began to soothe, coinfort, and allay the violence
in my cough, relieved the pain in my side, strengthened
and liealedmiy lungs, &c. I continued the use of it,
but now, thanks to God, emit° the .effect of your Com
pound Syrup of Wild 'Cherry, I am cured and able to
_ pursue my daily labors.
I think it an inyainablemedicine in 'coughs, colds and
disease of t h e lungs, and one that should be known to
all afflicted. If persons would purchase this original
and genuine article, as prepared by you, and not tamper
with7the -many spurious and worthless preparations
which arc attempted to be palmed °Tensile reputation
of yours, it Might be the means of saving many valua
ble lives,' I freely offeethis statement for,the benefit of
those who are suffering as I was. • •

• Beivare of-all ifreparatione or Wild Cherry, except
Dr.] Swayne's Compound Syrup of Wild Cherry, as
they are most likely, quite destitute of the ery article -
from whielt they borrow a name: Dr. Swayne has
succeeded in obtaining and •conee-ntrating.the' virtues
of the'Wild Cherry Tree in such a manner as to cone
stititte one of the mesa efficacious remedies in diseases
,•of the Lungs, at the 'same time most pleasaht to take.
that is known to the medical world. y It is unnecessary
for 'us to refer particularly to the - many remarkable
cures performed by it, Or to dwell at length upon the
pechliarly healthful propeites of the Wild Cherry.--
Sufficeit to say. that no healing, and at the snmeiime,
strengthening qualities are wonderful ; and in•inany
ifistancee, persons who had been afflicted for ycnrs with
consumption, coughs.'asthma , liver complaint, spitting
blood, nervous debility,- and various diseases of the
Lungs, have been, by its use, restored to perfect health.
Becareful to observe, that ea:h bottle bears the writ..
