The delivery of the new, motive4mwer of the Road
has not kept pace with the supply of care, for some
lime past—but we learn that two new 'locomotives
were placed, upon the (road this; week, and that an
Addition ofone a Week will be made until the full sup_
_ply contracted for will be delivered. The ad.;ition
of each locomotive will increase the capacity of
.transportatithefrom 425 to 250 tons per - day. '
The Agents selected by the operators to exatiiine the.

THE CANAL. -
Ms work is now progressing rapidly,' and •In -one
Inonth from this period will present quite a different
:aspect in cite vicinity. We are assured by the Presi
'dent, who. has just traversed the whole'line of the
works, thatlthe lower section will h e tinvigablefor the
present Canal Boats as far as PM:gni:trifle the: first
week in May, and by the tOth of the month boats of the
4argeitclase will be able to run to that point. The Com
pany
have put their own forces on the line, and in are
eral instances have taken„ritirr:possession of those
.contracts Which were delayed tor want of sufficient en
' ergy op the part of the contractors. As the work is
completed. below the. hands will be continued up the
tine, and the forces thus doubled on the upper sections.
• Weare confidently assured that the whole line will be
ready for navigation by the latter end of June or the
beginning of July. Sk"e are air . .assured that nearly if
not quite two hundred Boats of the largest class will
be ready for the navigation df the Canal, liv the time
if is,completed- It is important therefore !list those
operators who intend mining the canal, should he active
in preparing, the Landings for shipping in the large

they will be ready to avail themselves of its forilities.
