The composition of Dr. Taylor's. Balsam of Liver
wort is only known by the Proprietor. therefore it is
dangerous using any but that from 375 Bowery.
Na hereby certify that our son 6 years of age, was
suddenly taken with a fever, and after a Severe sick
ness a violent cough ensued. ,
He was bloated; his skin was filled; and his physi:
clan said there was no favorite symptom about /um,
that he had a confirmed consumption. At that tune,
we procured a bottle of that valuable medicine, Tay
l'or's Balsam of Liverwort. After taking one beide
we began to have hopes of his recovery. He tontip
ed until he had used five bottles. It le now a jek
from that time, and his health is better than it has been
since an infant. r

Francis'S Manifold Writer has now been in sue.

the proprieter has had the pleasure of receiving
the unfeigned approbation of all w hose observa

Of the President and Managers of the &ivy/.

January 2,1843: •
[ The Naditent and Mangers of the Schuylkill
Niiigation Company, have the Pleasure of igain
meeting their Stoehholders, for the purpose of ex
hibiting to them the state and condition of their
works; also atatemenn of their proceedings .. and
accounts, during the year (1842.).that has just
closed. And it is with much satisfaction, they are
enabled to observe, that notwithstanding' the tur
precedented enduing/mann! in Premier,' matters.
'that have pervaded the whole community, yet the
affairs et this Company :are in as prolperousal
condition as could have been expected, under ouch

certaining what repairs-would be required during
the corning winter, and before the mull time of
opening them for active trade, nexespriagr
After particularly examining the whole, Irish
the Renentl Superintendent, they report them to

base been particularly pointed out to the 2iiper
intendent; and orders have been given to have the
whole completed, and ready for opening, u early
next spring u the season may admit, and the pub•

The boat channel from Fermenta to Mane

.the Improvement. •
The new darn, now in prOgress, at Fairmount,
under the authority of the City Corporation, ( al
ready completed about half its length,) will, when
finished,with the other contemplated improvement
above referred to, materially benefit the naviga
tion of that section of•the company's ,wOrkg.
Theta has been no necessity for resorting to the
two reservoirs on Tumbling Run, for a 'apply .of
water the past season; they have therefore Dunaj

:The current expenses or the year 143, as per
statement herewith, compared with th se of pre

yet they appear by the accounts, to hate hen lar

that was

The rate of toU on coil, ( forming, u it does,

the subject of ,anxious consideration. with the

ton for each mile carried upon the - company's
wake; which; compared with the toll charged on
canals in Europe. is believed to be, below dui cus
tomary price charged:there, eta has thus for years
been continued, without much complaint.' it may
be seen by reference to the - Report ef. January,
1842, that:the Board of Managers—believing that
the time had then arrived -.when the rates of toll
on coal could be reduced beneficially, not only to
the coMpany, but to ,the public--ennounced .
Minivan that they had fixed the rates for the
year 1842, as follows :Irmo- Mmult Carbon,7s

At these prices the irate commenced in, the
