To Da. IL Wiest
DEA& Sta.—ln yours of the 28th instant you ask if
your BALSAM OF WILD CHERRY has proved successftil
in this pair of the country. In answer to these inqui
ries I can safely assert there has never been any.medi
eine introdeced here that has received such universal
approbation, and the demand for it increases daily.—
PtiFicians generally appear to be strangely pieta:mess.
ed in its favor and many of` our_ first families are now
trying it. In several cases that I have heard from, it
has given great relief, and others have said they feel
satisfied it will cure them effectually. One case inpar
ticular I would mention is, that -of the wife of Mr. How.
ard,a very influential family, residing a few miles out
of town, who has been lingering with consumption for
several 'eats - and tried all the celebrated remedies in
vain. She has only used :three or four Bottles of your
Balsam, and Mr. Howard informed me, a few days ago,
that she was recovering rap idly, that her cough nad
ceased entieely and he conently believed it had been
the means of saving tier life.; These I think are pretty
strong proofs of its virtues, but I flatter myself before
the winter is over I shall be able to give you many oth
ers such asifew medicines can boast of.

films Medicine is particularly recommended at
this season of the year, as an alterative and a

debilitated constitutions, which invalids are' uncon

It is alsii recommended in Diseases where the lungs

where the constitution is broken down by the use of

MOTHERS, BE ON YOUR GUARD.—This is the
season when this destructive complaint attacks your
interesting little children, often robs you of those you
fondly dot on, and carries hundreds to the grave.—
Every mother should, therefore, know its symptoms,
watch them closely, and always be. prepared with a
remedy to cure it, as many are daily sacrificed by-such
neglect. At first the little patient is seized with a shi
vering, it grows restless, has flushes of heat, the eyes
become red and swollen, it breathes with difficulty, and
then comes that fearful -Coven that will surely termi
nate in convulsions or death unless something is imme
diately given to check it. In this complaint the " BAL
SAM OF, WILD CHERRY," is well known to be the
most speedy cure ever discovered. It is indeed a pre-
cious remedy—mild, safe and innocent, and sure to give
the little sufferer immediate relief, and quickly restore
it to safety and health. Every mother who loves her
children should always keep it in the house and give it
to them early ; by doing so you may open save the life
of one you fondly love. Remember_ this is the famous
remedy of that distinguished physician, Dr. Wistar,
which has cured thousands of CsouP. Wttooruvo

DEAR gives me great pleasure to inform you
that my sister's health has improved very much since
she has been using your Balsam, and we have every
reason to believe that she will recover her health 'com

used the last, I wish you to send me three Bottles of

been taking your medicine, she says she has not felt
pain or been troubled with those distressing night
sweats she was formerly subject to ; coughs very little,
rests'better at night, and finds her sleep more refresh

better spirits than we have seen her for a tong time and

HUMAN HAIR.
CLEAIVLINESS OF THE HEAD AAD HAIR
Strange it is that persoffii who attend strictly' to
personal cleanliness, baths, &e. should neglect the
Head—the flair the most essential—the most expo
Bed—and the most beautiful when properly cared
for, of all the gifts of the Creator. Perfectly free
may it be 'kept of dandruff or scurf orich a certainty
that the hair cannot fall nut, by the use of the Halm
of Columbia. Ladies, will you make your toilet
without this article 1 I answer fearlessly, No, if
you have once tried and experienced its purifying
effects—its sweet perfume.
A hundred articles have been put forth on the
credit of this—the only first—The only really valua
ble article. m ass of testimony from all classes
to these facts.
From the Boston Chroniele,June-10
W E see Sy un advertisement in another col
umn that Ilhsers. Comstock & Co., the
Agents for Oldridge's Balm of Columbia, have dep.
titles to sell that article in Boston and elsewhere.—
We know a lady of this city whose hair was so
nearly gone as to expose entirely her phrenological
developements, which. considering that they betok
ened a most amiable disposition, was not in reality
very unfortOnate. Nevertheless she mourned the
loss of locks that she had worn, and, after a year's
fruitless resort to miscalled restoratives, purchased,
some months;ago, opottie or two of Oldridge'a Balm,
and she has now ringlets in rich profusion, glossy,
and of raven blackness. We are not puffing—none
of the commodity has been sent to us, and, indeed,
we do not want any, tor though we were obliged tn
wear a wig a year ago, we have , now, through its
virtue, hair enough, and of a passable quality, o

You will perceive the force of their language, un

since the reference, but without being informed of
it by me, or in any manner alluding to it.
STICIITER & M'KNGIII. (as successor& to Kelm

"For the character of these pills, wo refer with
confidence, 'but without asked consent, to the fol
lowing named gentlemen, who have sold them long
enough to know their true value in comparison
with any other, now in market. Their relative lo
cation gives every facility to the inquirer who de—
serves to obtain, either for sale of use, a first tate
article."
To take them in consecutive order, then Mr. C.
W. Porter, P. M., Maiden Creek, Jan, 26, took of
me on commission, 6 doz. Since that time, he pur
chased of K. & S. Reading 6 dozen, and on the 4th
inst. look 6 dozen of me, stating, that he never hair}
a medicine which brought back so good a report.
nor one which had so ready a fate. As he is Post
Master, any person can easily and cheaply ascer
tain whether my veracity can be impkached and at
the same time learn what othet pills, he sells has
sold. - -.-
Mr. G. H. Miller, late of Brickensville, had re
quested me to appoint him an agent for,Wornels
dor'', because he well know the value of the article
April 20th he took of me 4 dozer, and on the 24th
inst. he had sold 26 boxes, it being in Womeladorf,
a new article, and bought 2 dozen more.
This statement is similar to the foregoing.
To Mr. M'Kinty, one dozen were sent at a ven
ture, perhaps in December. Jan. 25, I left him 2
dozen on commtssion, and on the 11th inst. he paid
me for 7 dozen stating, as do the others, that no
medicine with which he is acquainted _has as good
a name and so ready a Bile,
Peter Kline, Post Master, has sold to a man who
has the white swelling, probably -near 60, whom I
seen, and who states, that no other remedy has ren
dered him any service, but that this hat, and now
that he is persuaded to persevere, I am fully persua
ded he will entirely recover.
Samuel Heckler, Post Master, sells the other pills.
but states, that he findi 4 of these equal to 8 or 9 of
them—that tho' he had these less than 4 months,
and the others several years. of these he now sills
about 10 boxes where he has a call for one of the
other sort. He mentioned a woman who hie da
ring several yews suffered by the rheumatism, and
thouch other remedies had been invoked, she
has not found any benefit, save in the use of these
pills.
I would add much general and particular intor
mrtiun, but shall defer to a mpie convenient oppor.
tunity an exposition which must be interesting to MI
who are liable to diseases. To the business in hand,
the reference, I have paid the attention it seems
to merit, int) 1 thus leave it with the earnest de
sire that it may be read with candor, and produce
the effect to !Inch truth is always entitled.
