Departed this life on Thu, sday morning the 14th

of Alpheus Cheyney. of Pcittsville, in the 68th year
of her age, •
The subject of this notice l had: fora Jong time
been ting§ring under tha4 slow hut latil disease
"COnsuriiption." Last spring she paid a visit to
some or her telatives in the state of Connecticut,
but upon arriving at home her malady increased
with wit severity, so match so. that for the last
, f-tairm the she has been I wholly confined to her
bed. •S felt very sensibly her approaching dis
solution. aving for some iime ,as she assured the
writer ) hope of ever being restored to health
to this rld. But death had no terrors to her,
)1
she, trusted not in an arm or flesh, but in the
boundless mercy of God, and having anchored her
hope in Heaven, she desired rather'' to depart and
be with Christ," who had poured out his precious
blood for her redemptiun, than to linger in this tab
ernacle of, clay. She took delight in meditating
upon the,'" Loving kind ness," ,of her Heavenly
Father, and was much pleased when any person
sung for her that beautiful hyinn, " A wake my
soul irr joyful days."' Shp died as she lived in full
assurance of a blessed immortality, and while the
hcold sods of the valley 'miler her resting idace, it
'may with truth he said of her, "though dead, she
yet ypea ket h." She was fOr several years a, worthy
member of the Presbyterian church in this place,
and it is hoped that her pii3us . example may not be
forgotten by any who were acquainted with - her.

Schuylkill, only amount to 20,367 tons. Total
this sessort, 470,281 tons. To the same period last

,In consequence of the great 'cementation of coal
on the wharvei at Philadelphia, 'on the Bchoilkill,
and, the continued scarcity of coat vessels, orders have
been received here from several of the dealers below

To Da. 11. Wisrree.
Dean Stu.—ln yours of the 28th instant you ask if
youi BALSAM OF WILD CHERRY has proved successful
in this part of the country. In answer to these inqui
ries I can safely assert there has never been ally medi
cine introduced - here that has received 'weir universal
approbation, and the demand for it increases
Physicians generally appear to he strangely prepossess
ed in its favor and many of our first families are now
trying it. In several cases that I . have heard from, it
has given great relief, and others have said they feel
satisfied it will. cure them effectually. One case in par
ticular I would mention ia..tharof the wife of Mr. !Tow
ard, a very influential family. residing •a few miles out
of town, who has been lingering with consumption for
several years and tried all the celebrated remedies in
vain She his only used three or fotir Bottles of your
Balsam, and Mr Howard informed me, a few days ago,
that she was recovering rapidly, that her cough nad
ceased entirely and he confidently believed it had been
the means ofiaving her life. 'elshise I think are pretty
strong proofs of its virtues, bier flatter myself before
the winter is over I shall be able to give you many oth
ers such as few medicines can boast of.

MOTHERS, BE ON YOUR GUARD.— This is the
season when this destructive cemplai9t attacks your
interesting little. children, often robs you of those you
fondly doat on. and carries hundreds to the grave.—
Every mother should, therefore, know 'its symptoms;
watch them closely. and idways be prepared with a
remedy to cure it. as many are daily sacrificed by such
neglect_ At first the little patient is seise) with a shi
vering, it grows restless, has flashes of heat, the eyes
become red and swollen, it breathes with difficulty, and
then comes that fearful COUGH that will surely termi
nate in convulsions or death unless something is enme
diately given to check it. In this complaint the " BAt..
SAM OP WILD CHERRY," is well known to be the
most speedy cure ever discovered. It is indeed a pre.
cious remedy—mild, sale and innocent, and sure to give
the little sufferer immediate relief, and , quickly +more
it to safety and health. Every mother who loves her
children should always keep it in the house and give it
to them early; by doing so you may often save the life
of one yomfondly love.' Remember this is the famous
remedy of that distinguished physician, Dr. Wietar,
which has cured thousands , of CROUP, WHOOPING
