in Mr. Rodgers explorations in 1839, he made a

of ore of an average qua' ty, as he could procure.

he says': { ; , '

Balsam of Ili 1441-Cherry,
THE CELEBRATED REMEDY POR
Diseases of the Lunge.
1111" UMEROS remedies have been offered and puffed
into notice for DISEASES OF THE LUNGS.
some of which has undoubtedly been found very useful
but of all that have hitherto been known. it, must be
universally acknowledged there is none that has ever
proved as successful as the "BALSAM OF WILD
CHERRY " Such indeed are the astonishing restora
tive an!. healing properties of this R 4 LSAM. that even
in the worst forms of CONSUMPTION. when the pa
tient has suffered the most distiMssing cough. violent pain
in the chest. difficulty of breathing, night sweats, bleeding
of the lungs. 4c and when the most esteemed remedies
of our Pharmacopias had failed to afford any relief. and
when Botanic, Homcepathic, and numerous other rein
edies, had been used for many months in vain, this
invaluable remedy has checked every symptom, and
been productive le the most astonishing relief. In the
early stages of the disease, proceeding from neglected
colds, termed Catarrah/ Consumption, it has been used
with undeviating success, and in many instances, when
this disease seemed to have marked its victim for an
early grave, the use of this medicine has arrested every
symptom, and.restored the lungs to a state of perfect
health
In that form of CONSUMPTION, so prevalent a
mongst delicate young females, commonly termed debil
ity or 'going into a decline.' a complaint with which
thousands are lingering. it has also been used with sur
prising success, and not only possesses the poWer of
cheating the progress of this alarming disease, but
at the same time strengthens akin invigorates the whole
system more effectually than anyedy we have ever
possessed. h
O::TLIVER COM PLA INT—In diseases of the Liver.
particularly when attended with a cough, indigestion or
wandering pains in the side, it has also proved very
efficacious, and cured many cases of this !toad after the
most nor? erful remedies had failed. ,
Ettr NMIMA —ln this complaint it also been used
in numerous instances with the most singular success.
It opens the chest, rendering the breathing perfectly
free, arrests the cough, and will seldom fait to give per
manent relief.
BRONCHITIS.—As a remedy in all Bronichial
affections of the throat, attended with a hoarseness, cough
or roar in the throat, it will also be found .a very effectual
remedy and will mostly afford immediate relief if wed
at the commencement of the attack
- -
/TT COUGHS AND COLDS --In common coughs
and colds, that prevail so extensively throughout tne
winter, it will be found much more effectual than any
remedy in use, and when colds settle upon the lungs.
causing an inflamation with pains in the breast. difficulty
or shortness of breathing, &c. the use of this Balsam will
suppress such symptoms immediately, and at the same
time prevent the lungs from becoming more seriously
diseased
ITT CROUP AND WHOOPING COUGH.—In these
complaints, so common to young children, this Balsam
will be found much superior to the Paregoric Elmer
Syrup of Squills, and the various COUGH RES
in common use, as it is entirely free from any thing the
least injurious, and may at all times be given to children
with perfect safety, and with the certainty of itsatrording
them speedy relief.
It? AS A FAMILY •MEDICINE for many other
complaints, this Balsam will also be found particularly
usefnl Besides having proved an invaluable remedy in
all Pulmonary affections, i. exerts a pt.werfid influence
over many diseases depending on a depraved condition
of the system, and those who have suffered from the
indiscriminate use of Mercury.. or other tdeleterious
drugs, that are often compoanded in different quack nos
:rums, will find it a remedy of great value, frsssessing
the power of strengthening and invigorating the whole
system more effectual than any other medicine we pos
sess. . .
....
CAUTION TO PURCHASERS—As this medicine
h s already acquired great celebrity, there may prob--
a v be some attempts to imitate it, and deceive the
pu is with a spurious mixture, to prevent which I would
wish all purchaser's to observe the following marks of
the genuine Balsam, It is put up in bottles of two sizes
each, having the words %VISTA R'S 13ALSAM OF
WILD CHERRY, Pill LADA ,blown in the glass. and
a label On the front with the sig"ature of HENRY
