.S,OOTHINC,SYRUP,
To Mothers and Nurse's
rrIlE passage of the teeth through the gums produces
troublesome and dangerous symptoms. It is known
by mothers that there is a great irritation in the mouth
and gums during this process. The gums swell, the se.
cretion of the saliva is increased, the child is seized with
frequent and sudden fits of crying, watching, starting in
its sleek, and spasms in peculiar parts ; the child.shrieke
with extreme violence, and thrusts its fingers into its
mouth. If these precursary symptoms are not speedily
alleviated, spasmodic convulsions universally aupervents
and soon cause the dissolution of the infant. If mothers
wliiii - have their little babes afflicted with these distress
ing symptoms, would apply the celebrated American
Soothini , 'Syrup, which has preserved hundreds of infants
when thought past recovery, from being suddenly attack
ed with t hat fatal malady convulsions.
This infallible remedy has preserved hundreds when
thought , past recovery, from convulsions. As soon as
the Sy nip is rubbed en the gums, the child will recover
Thri preparation is so innocent, so efficacious, and so
pleasant, that no child will refuse to lode gums be rubbed
with tt. When infants are at the age of four months,
though there is po appearance of teeth, one bottle of
the Syrup should be used on the gums to open the pores.
Parents should never he wit hout the rup in the nursery
where thee: , are young children, for if a child wakes in
the night with the pain in the gums, the Syrup immedi
ately gives ease, by opening the pores and healing the
gums; thereby. preventing Convulsions, Fevers, &c.

Dr. JAYNE—Dear Sir: I feel that I can hardly

I have recommended its use to a number of my
blends, who all speak well, of it. If faithfully em

may add that before using the Tonic, I had tried al

Copy of a letter from C. C. Park, Pastor of the Bap.
test church at Haddonfield. N. J.
Haddonfield, February 12, 1839.,
Dr. D. Jayne—Sir : I take pleasure in informing
you that the bottle of Alibert's Hair Tonic which I
obtained of you last October, has proved most satis
factory and successful. My hair had for a long
time been exceedingly thin. But for two or three
years past it had so fallen out, that my head had be
come almost entirely bald. I was tinder the neces-
sity of concealing the baldness by combing the hair
on the aides of it. But now after using about half
of a botiTe of the Tonic,l have as luxuriant a growth
of hair as I ever had. C. C. PARK.
The Rev Leonard Fletcher, Pastor of the Baptist
church at Great Valley, Pa., who hid been more or
less bald for many years, used three bottles of the
Hair Tonic, and has a fine growth of new hair, ov.
er all that part of his head where he was before
bald, writes—
"My hair is wowing finely, 1 assure you."
L. FLETCHER. I
Westchester, Pa., Merck 2, 1839.
Mr. Bond, one of the Compositors in the office of
the. Philadelphia Public Ledger, who had Inst nearly
all his hair from off the top of his head, has had it
completely restored by the use of this Tonic. Two
Officers of the American Navy had good heads of
hair restored to them by using five bottler each of
this Hair Tonic, one of whom was over sixty years
of age. Four gentlemen connected with the Public
press in Ph;ladelphia, have also had their haleness
removed by using this remedy. The Rev Mr. Park.
er, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Delaware
county, Pa., who was completely bald over all the
top of his head, and was also becoming considerably
gray, has used only two bottles of this lonic, and
has not only a luxuriant growth of new hair upon
his head, but all the gray hairs have disappeared,
and their places have been supplied by healthy hair
of a natural colour. Finally, nine cases of baldness
out of E very ten, may positively be removed by a
faithful application of this invaluable remedy.—
There is, therefore, now oo excuse for a baldhead.

Sarsaparillq. •
To the World.
IF you wish to make use of Sarsaparilla, be advised to
ry DR. LEIDY'S MEDICATED EXTRACT OF
SARSAPARILLA. It is positively the strongest pre
paragon in existence, one bottle of it (which costs but
one dollar) being equal to one gallon of Syrup, as it is
usually prepared in the shops, and equal to two bottles
ofany other extract. Dr. Leidy begs leave to state that
he himself prepares it, and can consequently vouch for
its strength. Numerous Physicians throughout the UT
nited States, give it the preference over all other prepa
rations ofSarsaparilla, both from the fact of its superior
strength (consequently efficacious when employed) and
from the circumstance of its being prepared by a rep •
lar Apothecary and Physician, attested by Dr. Physic,
Chapman, Jackson, Horner, Gibson, Dewees, James,
Cole, &c. k.
' It is useless here to name the numerous affections
wherein Sarsaparilla is considered the sole eeifie_—
f. it to say. it is recommended by all Physicians
throughout the world, in diseases of Skin, Bones,'Liver,

of the blood and animal fluids. As a , purifier of the

The extraordinary success which has attended the

.Mr. Wm. Tucker, having lately been restored to
a sound state of health, through the efficacy of DR.
HUNT'S BOTANIC PILLS, thinks it an indispen

ease under which he had so long suffered. The
symptoms were—a painful obstruction, with a cop,
stant rejection of food, head ache, palpitation of the
heart, lowness of spirits, a troublesome dry cough,
dizziness, tightness at the chest and difficulty of
breathing, almost constant pain in the side, loins,
and shoulders, accompanied with much languor and
debility. These afflictions, together with an unusual
degree of flatulence, brought on such a state of ex

dreadful debility indeed, lie ihought he was afflic
e 0 with every internal complaint the human body is
liable to. He was generally making trial of various
remedies, all of which were equally ft witless, unte
he had recourse to Hunt's Botanic Pills, from th•
superior virtues of which medicine his health is per
lectly re.estahlished, and is now able is pursue his
`gmployment free from pain or disease.
JOSHUA ROBERTS.
Auexlraordinary case V Rheumatism, accompanied
with Dia - rrhaa and Nervous Debility,
Mr. Joseph Hart, frbm being exposed tt, cold, was
attacked with a most painful Rheumatic complaint
in the head, and neck, which continued with dis
tressing violence for several months. The principle
symptoms were—a swelling and excruciating pain
of all the joints.and an',entire loss of their use; both
the pain and the fever generally suffered an increase
in
,the evening. The pales were increased on the
slightest motion, and were more severe in the night
time. A constant' diarrheea, which produced its
general consequences—flatnleney, lowness of spirits,
and general wasting of the body. He was indeed so
extremely in that his medical attendant could hot
;possibly give the least hopes of his recovery, and it
was generally believed by his relatives and friends
that all the medicines or treatment in this world
conld not give him any relief. But seeing an ad
vertisement on Bum's Botanic Pills, he was directed
by an Almighty Providence to use them ; he did so,
rind after a fortnight they produced a tavorable
change, and he is now a healthy and strong man.
JOSEPH HART.
An interesting case of Lowness of Spirits, with a vi
olent Spasmodic Affection. •
Mr. Francis Caldwell was afflicted for several years
with extreme debility, together with a train °fay m p
toms generally termed nervous affections, and
which, perhaps. it would be impossible for the pen ill
the most learned physicians to describe. In this
ease the spasms in the stomach were so frequent and
excruciating as nearly to deprive him of reason
pains in the limbs, extending even to the fingers
and toes, flatulence, sickness at the stomach, and a
general agitation of the whole system, insomuch that
a common Inc' lent rendered the mind timid and ap
prehensive. In order to remove these dis•ressMg
symptoms, and restore the constitution to its fornier
energy, a large portion of medical skill had been ei
haustcd.without any advantage ; change of air, and
other remedies were also unavailing, and the mind
and body appeared to be devoted to a ruthless dis.
ease. In this hopeless and languiii situation. Mr-
Caldwell was recommended to make trial of Hunt's
Botanic Pills, the effects of which were visa blc in a
few days, and by a continuance of the medicine
(according to directions.? his strength became com
pletely restored, and a 'sound state of health, was
happily established.
