The furnace is situate four miles from Port Carbon, up the Schuylkill Valley Rail Road, on the Valley Furnace land. These lands crossing thh whole of the Schuylkill Coal range, contain all the different coal veins or strata of coal of that celebrated Coal region, a num. ber of which have been opened, and some of them are now worked. PROPOSALS WILL be received at the office of the Buck Mountain Coal Company in Philadelphia, for the mining and delivering 01 coal in boats, at their lending at Lockport on the Lehigh, until the 15th day of August next. Their names will be put in wt.rkieg order by the operation of syphons—the vain to be worked is about ten feet thick, free from elates and the dip about one foot in five. The distance by their rail road to the canal is about four miles. Rail road and drift cars are furnished by the Company. The mine must be worked in twenty feet breasts, leaving pillars of the same size. The company are making arrangements which, after this year, will enable them to mine coal to the extent of from thirty to fifty thousand tone per an. num, and it will therefore be en object to any one fully competent to make application, with satisfac. tory references.
