More Coal.—The Sunbury Gazette says, that
on Wednpsday last the locomotive "North Star.'
-built by Messrs. Garret yid Eastwick of Phila.
delphia, brought in from Shamokin, a distance of
twenty miles, a train of nrryievz cars, contain
ing one hundred and thirty three tone of coal—
tliti weight of the whole train being 425,050
pounds. This engine has but two driving wheels,
and uses nothing but anthracite for fuel. Her
performance upon this occasion is another proof
that coal can be used without difficulty to gener
ate steam in locomotives, and answer the purpose
just as well as wood.
