All laws of this Commonwealth in force at the time when the said alterations and amend ments in the said Constitution %hall take effect, and not inconsistent therewith, and all rights, actions, prosecutions, claims, and.tontracts as well of indi viduals as of bodies corporate, shall continue as if the said alterations and,amendments had not been made. The Recorders of the several:May on' Courts ' and other criminal courts• in this Com monwealth, shall be. appointed for the same time, and in the same manner, as the president judges of the several judicial districts; of those now in Office, the commission oldest in date shall expire on the twentf-seeenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and forty-one, and the others every two years thereafter according to their respective dates.
