Tea Cincinnati Columbian, of the bth say.:
The river at this point has been 118113 g slightly for a cou•
ple of days past, on account of heavy rains, which have
teen frequent in the v icinity. The use will not affect Dav 4
gallon to any extent, and the last arrival from below report
the river falling at Cairo. The Ohio river is low and fall.
ing, which has considerable affect on the stage of water in
this river between here and giro. New Orleans boats can
not now go out drawing over seven feet with safety, which
they are not able to stand at the prevent low ra ex of freights.
They are, ccnsequent'y, lying at the Levee, doing very lit.
tie business, and the last of next west will probably tee
some of them 3:111 in part.
The river at this point condones on a stand. We ii‘ve
learned nothing of consequence in regard to the state of
the Upper Misdssippl, the Illinois or the Missouri. There
is no improvement in these streams.

Dear ,s r—llaying lost my eight by oH age, I was in
duced to purchase your wonderful instruments, and by
using the same according to your directions. I succeeded in
restoring my eight so that I can read by night or day with

three or four months, which shows that the restoration is
not a temporary one, but a valuable and permanent mire.
