The Free Soilers of Kansas are getting up a queer set of documents for Congress wherewith to contest Whitfield's seat. They make a great parade over what they say they will prove, but whether, when it comes to the scratch, these documents will prove anything remains to be seem, and I am not at liberty to make free use of them, but will state that they purport to estab lish, viz: 1. That t can be proved by pro-slavery men—Dr. Berland Mr. M Wallaoe—That there are only four legal pro-slavery voters at Frank lin, and that Whitfield received 61 votes there. 2 That It can be proved by persona residing in the district that there were only 30 legal votes oast for Whitfield in Wyandot ; (he received, I believe, over 200 votes there.) 3. That of 230 votes cast for Whitfield at ()int eratomic evidence can be got to prove that not above 50 were legal and resident 4 That at the Baptist Mission, which gave 100 votes for Whitfield, there aro in all only 17 legal voters, and that only 13 of them east their ballots. 6 That illegal vote°, number not stated, were cast at Oaakoe. 6. STATE ORGANIZATION The Delegates to the Constitutional Conven tion have been chosen. They will form a *Con stitution for Kansas, and apply for admission into the Union. Governor Roeder will he the bearer of their constitution and petition to Washington. The question of the day—for eve ry day at Lawrence produces a new topic for discussioc—is whether it will tie expedient to organise a State government, after framing the constitution, and to make provision in it for an immediate election of Governor, Senators and Representatives. This is not so novel an idea, as it appears to be on its first presentation. Of the nine States last admitted into the Union, six of them took precisely the same measures—call ed a convention without consulting their Terri tonal Governor or Legislature, and pnicectled to act. The formation of a constitution, and the election of a Legislature under it, the advocates of this doctrine contend, supersede the pro visional government, and ends lie existence. Reeder, I understand, is opposed to it. He wishes the convention to terminate its proceed- I in!, as soon as it frames a constitution.
