IMELD DOOK FOR RAILROAD ENGINEERS.— Contain.

with tables of radii, ordinates, deffectiona, long chords
magnetic variation, logarathlms and natural signs .tan
gents, etc. etc., by John B. Henck, Civil Engineer. Pocket
book form. $1,76.
#•# The object of the preseut work is to sapply a want
very generally felt by Assistant Engineers on Railroads.
Hooks of convenient form for use In the field, containing
the ordinary lograritbmatic tables are cornmou enough; but
a book combining with those tables others peculiar to the
Railroad work, and especially the necessary formulas for
laving out curves, turn-outs,crossings, Ac.,is a desideratum
which this work Is designed tn supply.
U. S. Mjutakv Aoaduiy, West Poiut, April IS, 1854.
Gentlemen: I have looked over “Ilenck’s Field hook for
Railroad Engineers,” and think It well adapted to the ob
ject Us author proposes, and have no question but It will be
foundu very ueelul and practicul volume both for oQlceaud
field work. D. 11. Mahan.
Tuoy, April 21,185-1.
I am much pleased with Mr. llenck’s little manual, the
“Field Rook ot Railroad Engineers.” With the presents
tiou of some of the most practical and useful of recognized
processes among railway eugineers, he has given others
which, new at leuet in their present form, appear to possess
a mint of higher value than that of mure novelty—that of
being in general susceptible of available, not to say desira
ble, practicul nee. In conclusion, while I think the design
of Mr. Ilenck’s book la such as to adapt it excellently well
to professional needs, I have pleasure In expressing my
conllal satisfaction with its execution, alike with the per
spicuity of arrangement effected by the author, and the ex
cellent typographical taste displayed by his publishers.

The singular adaptation of ingredients in this compound
affectß the small Teasels at the roots of the hair, anu thus
stimulates the natural secretion of coloring matter, siring
tone and strength to its growth. It also imparts to the
hair a gloss and beauty unlike that given by any other
preparation, and in every case it will restore the natural
color of the hair, where age or slokness haa turned it grey.
