^SLIM, WELLS AND Breon's MINSTRELS.—We
have spoken often in terms of high praise of this
popular troupe of Ethiopian performers, bat not
attires° than their merits deserve. It is very
seldom that a company combining so many ex
oellencies, visits tie, and as merit, no matter in
what shape it comes, deserves to be rewarded,
we are glad 'to see it so well patronized. Negro
performances, although probably not a very re
fined or elegant species of amutementi are never
theless very good in their way, and as they will
ho patronized—the history of the last few years
prov lug this fact conclusively—every attempt
to raise their character, so as to make them as
little objectionable as poseible, should be eom
mended and assisted. The proprietors of the
present troupe have been - indeNtigablo in their
efforts to secure performers of the very best
kind, in their profession, and by sparing neither
money or time, have succeeded in forming a com
pany who are irreproaohable as gentlemen, and
unequalled as artistes. Their performances
abound in genuine wit and humor, but Is entire
ly free - from the vulgarity which 60 many in the
genie line of business have to use to induce ap
plause. From their first appearance here, their
audiences have increased nightly, until now it is
ainscost impossible to secure a seat, unless appil•
cation is made in time. Wo should not be sur
prised if they would continue to draw for sever
al useke yet.
